Considering a new DSLR... (now own a D600 - next: other discussions)

I'd go FX for sure. Just go with one body and one lens for now, get to know your camera and needs before deciding what else. Nikon hasn't given much love to DX and looks like they aren't going to, even though it accounts for a bulk of there sales. In the 14 years that Nikon has sold DX cameras...

Lenses for GH2

Firstly, how cheap is cheap? Do you have a budget? Secondly, how close up are you talking about? In other words, how much reproduction of size do you need? 1:1 is macro, or the object you are shooting is the same size as the sensor, like say a tiny bug would fill the entire frame.

Switching from D5100 to Mirrorless?

Not sure if your stating this right. Are you saying that the shutter lag is causing the blurry photo or you are missing the opportunities of her being completely still because of the time between clicking the button and the photo taking. It sound more like the Shutter Speed is too slow...

Recommend me a good Canon telephoto lens...

Ugh, I feel your frustration. My current body is back focusing quite a bit. Only happens with indoor light though, so I've just dealt with it. Doesn't matter what focus point or lens, they all seam to back focus. But as soon as I mount a flash, focus assist nails the focus.

So it was the lens fault that your photos where blurry? +1 for the Tamron 70-300 OS. It has a very fast AF and very good image stabilization.

Do digital sensors pick up UV and can it be filtered?

Nikon D80 or D90?

IMO the D90 is heads above the D80. The D80 uses the 10mp sensor that is known to be quite noisy at higher ISOs. The Auto ISO is also improved on the D90, allowing you to see the ISO before you shoot. You also have easy ISO where while in A or S mode you can use the other scroll wheel...
