Desk Build Question

Looking to build a corner desk, what would be the strongest configuration for the top? I will be using pocket holes and glue between all the boards. or Thanks

Checklist for portrait photography

Equipment wise your pretty solid, maybe a 35mm 1.4 in there as well. As for the clutter in a barber/beauty shop, it could add character. And if your stopped down to 1.8, the background will be blurred out anyway. Also depends on if you want full body, or just face portraits that will dictate...

Questions about DSLR / Video / Lenses

Which OS would suit my needs??

If you dont have spare parts, starting a new build. Why not go with a NAS box? I have the Netgear 104 and it has a Plex app that will stream to my computer no problem. The only time it would be an issue is if I needed it to transcode on the fly, in which case get a more powerful NAS.

Nikon d3300 question

Check for a "mirror lock" function in the settings. A lot of cameras have this feature to reduce shake that can happen with the mirror flipping up just before taking a picture

My advice is to hold out for the 65" OLED to come down in price, it has been cut in half to about 7k USD MSRP, you can find it cheaper online of course. 55" OLED 4k is $5500, again cheaper online. If you have a retailer cole to you with OLED, go look at it in person, it's darker than plasma...

What kind of budget do you have? Also 55" seems to be the sweet spot for pricing right now. If you want really deep blacks, your looking at a used plasma (since no one makes them any more, and only 1080p) or OLED, which is costly (around $2k for the 1080p). If you want full back lit, your...

Canon 60D upgrade?

Its fairly pointless to move from one crop sensor to another. Either step up to a 6D or, better choice, spend that $700 on a much better lens then you have now. A new lens would provide you with a quality jump greater than moving up to a 60D or 70D

Whats your budget? It sounds like a 2.1 channel preamp would be better for you, since you already have the amp for the speakers and sub. Just doing a very quick search I found this Parasound P5. It's audiophile grade and will cost you about $1000. Has everything you want, and a lot more.

Bottleneck?

Streaming from my NAS to my WDTV it will lag and buffer every 10min or so, but if I connect the WDTV directly to the NAS it will stream an entire movie just fine. Wired with Cat5e throughout. The slowest component is the WDTV with only 100mbps NIC. What gives? My setup is: Belkin N600...
