I have a Dell 8.1 with Bing OS, 32GB ssd, 8GB ram (upgraded from the original 2GB) and a Centrino chip . With hibernation and page file turned off I have 10-13GB of free space (on a good day). Nothing fancy, but does the job. Plenty of storage w/sd cards and thumbs. I see they'll be on sale on...
Thanks for the replies. After looking into this further I find that the fat32 esp partition isn't cloning. I'm going to try Acronis before getting out of Windows. That's a whole new beast for me.
I just bought an 850 evo 120GB to replace my Dell laptop's oem (Kingston) 32GB ssd. Windows 8.1. I used Samsung's migration software and an external enclosure to clone the original ssd. Everything went by the numbers until I installed the new ssd. It won't boot. All I get is the Dell symbol on a...
I just bought a Dell Inspirion 3000 14" for the same uses as you list. It has a 32G ssd. I added 8 gigs ram and a 32 gig SD card. $275 all in. Perfect for my purposes.

It's a home built using a Biostar (cheapo) mb. I've already been in the bios and I don't have an option to boot from cd, that's why I was looking for another path.
I'm trying to reformat my daughter's xp pro system. In the bios I don't have a "boot from cd" option. When I insert the disc and access it manually I'm told the existing system is newer than the one I'm trying to install and won't allow me to go any further. I'm guessing this is because the disc...
OK, thanks. I'll give it a try. I've got 2 generic oem 32 bit versions of xp, home and pro, and a 64 bit pro. Something should work. He's running xp home.
My friend has an Acer laptop that's 6 years old and in need of a reformat. However, he's lost the discs. Can I use my oem disc w/his key/registration number to reformat his machine?
Networking noob here, but I've got a few thoughts on your wiring.
I'm guessing your homeruns terminate in a utility room in the basement. If that's the case, then I would configure it in such a way as to get the wireless router in a centralized spot on the top floor. This'll give you the best...
