Voltage variations = dying PSU?

OK... dared to turn it on for a while today to check the voltage levels. Sandra gave results on the +12 line ranging from 9.5 to above 12. That seems like a lot of variation to me, but I'm not sure. Those results were given within a minute or two of one another, while the computer was just...

Voltage variations = dying PSU?

Weird... :confused: I pulled out the following: SB Live! 5.1 MP3+ Modem IDE Card CD-RW DVD Then... I booted it up no problem. Could I be sucking too much power out of my 320w CWT PSU? Anyway I can test my PSU output?

Voltage variations = dying PSU?

No luck with clearing the CMOS. :confused: I don't have another PSU that I can throw in there. So, I don't really have any means of testing it, unless I just unplug everything else. I guess it could be the Mobo. I do have 2-yr warranty on that. So, I could return it and see it that fixes...

ok... checked both sticks at home. They seem to work fine. I was able to use each of them. Booted all the way to windows without a problem. If anyone has a suggestion, plesae let me know. I'm going to try to clear the CMOS tomorrow. After that I'm not too sure.

Tried changing the FSB. CPU checked in at a lower speed (as expected) still no recognition of the RAM. Any more suggestions? If not, I will try it out on another computer tonight.

Thanks for the suggestions... Fern - Although the screen says to hit 'ESC' to skip the test, hitting 'ESC' does nothing. So, it seems as though I can't get past this step. Dave - I ahve no voltage adjustment on this board. Frankly, I don't really want to either. Also, I'm not sure what...

Installing a stereo jack

One suggestion would be to go over to Radio Shack or similar electronics store where you can buy a headphone jack. This is probably better than reusing an old one, as the contacts can become dirty over time. I can't say I've ever seen a 5-lead jack. The main thing is just matching the leads...

Not successful. Actually, it doesn't have a jumper to clear the CMOS. Anyway, I think I'm just gonna give it up for lost and replace it with a Duron/K7S5A.
