Nice, I see ya got the $37 CoolMax. Deal was dead when I got to it :/.
If you think the gts is too expensive, 8900gs will be good when it arrives.
Otherwise, looks good.
In the past, the only "XP" you could put on USB disks was WindowsPE or some kind of derivative [ie, BartPE, UBCD, etc...]. However, there's been a recent breakthrough where full XP has been installed on external USB. It involves editing the driver configuration of the setup disc, and I toyed...
So, I think that for the past few years, it has been the general consensus of the community to stay away from CoolMax PSUs because they are crap and hazardous to your hardware. However, looking online, it seems that recently CoolMax PSUs have gone up significantly in price and, consequently...
so i power up my computer thats running an x2 3800+ with xp x64 pro today and bam, my second core of my X2 has disappeared. x64 showed dialogues about first detecting a x64 uniprocessor pc, then a multiprocessor pc, and then back to a uniprocessor pc. this is bs, anyone got a solution?
oh yeah well haha i was actually running 2 copies of prime with the most intensive torture test. so i guess im high but it wasnt that bad according to you markbnj. but nevertheless, ac5 will be bought and the hs will be remounted by this friday.
OK Ty for comfirming, but how long should i continue to run this at 60 degrees under load? im gonna be gaming, and i probably wont gt the store until next week.
So my X2 is now overclocked with vCore at around 1.4. Im using a thermaltake big typhoon, but i was lazy and used stock thermal compound (white stuff :Q). will some ac5 help? because the temps are becoming scary.
ok, ty guys, and im seriously thinking of rmaing. i also desperately need to get some arctic silver, as my cpu is reaching bout 60 at load right now. Btw, 60 at load sounds kinda bad...
crap, i shouldve just payed 40 bucks more for 2 x 1GB of ram. :|
hmm, ok so how much do i need to overclock to make up for the 1/2T performance difference?
Hi.
I just built a rig with an Athlon X2 3800+ and a MSI Neo4/SLI mobo. I, unfortunately, decided to use 4 sticks of 512mb memory and until today i didnt realize that my X2 was not functioning with them at DDR400. Also, I cant seem to get a 1T command rate no matter what i do. I don't need...
If you can tolerate Nforce4 SLi on the side, get the Jetway Nforce4 SLi mobo. According to an Anandtech review, It has better than average overclocking abilities and great performance.
I went with an external enclosure because I was able to get an extremely cheap ide drive ($25 for 160gb). It performs fairly well and has both USB 2.0 and Firewire. However, if you do plan to use an external enclosure, be VERY careful with what chipset you get. My enclosure uses the Prolific...
