1st timer having problems w/Abit KT7A & Duron 750 - please help?

the system should still post regardless of os on hd0. make sure you have all the ribbon cables oriented correctly and drive jumpers are set. you may want to try a different video card if you can get your hands on one too...

DVD DMA issues

I just had the same thing on two asus boards...cubx and cuvx. it seems that anytime i had a card in slot three dma would not enable...i had to leave it empty. final config that worked was agp vid...nic in slot2 sharing irq with promise controller, sound in slot4 sharing irq with modem in slot5. gl

Prepare to be stumped!!

those abit boards are flaky indeed...I used to love them and now we won't carry them. very inconsistent. I notice they don't seem to like to work with dvd's alot of the time.

V5 users: questions and advice maybe

first off get that v5 in the first pci slot and put the nic in 4 or 5. soundcard is fine in 3. now see how things run.

Help! Reformatting doesn't fix it

see if you can find spinrite analysis...it's a great HD utility. also, is the crash a hardlock or an error message? that could be a good clue.

it should be printed on the board between the pci slots.
