I got my E6600 system up and running over the weekend. E6600 at 3.0ghz and Giga-Byte DS3 mobo.

If you look at the 6300 tests, I agree with you that specific test showed a difference. A minute sounds like a lot, but if you look at it as 6% difference, there could be some debate. I see some larger margins leaning towards the DS3 on other tests.

That is a good thread with some interesting results. I think it might still be a bit early to draw a final conclusion on 975 vs 965. Right now they are very close and the 965 is still going through some growing pains. It will get better quickly as the BIOS is updated.

The 6600s are out there. I spent $381 with tax at MicroCenter, but I have mine in hand. I dont have to stress over newegg or zipzoomfly or the package sitting out in 100' temps for an afternoon.

One last comment since the 6600 still seems hard to located today.
Microcenter will reserve a chip for up to 48 hours at their retail stores. If you cant decide or are not willing to go without, this might be a viable alternative.

I am weak. After recieving emails from buy.com and zipzoomfly.com stating that they will not be recieving E6600s until the 4th week of August, I gave in. My area microcenter had a couple 6600s for $359. I snatched one up over the lunch hour. No more stressing for me.
