Okay, I called Mapower USA about the Map-KC31C1. The Oxford is just for the Firewire, they use Genesys chipset for USB. He insisted the Genesys was tested with Linux(!) but I'll have to read up on that.

I also didn't get a confirmation email right away. Then I tried logging in and it said "sorry you need to wait for the confirmation email" and I got the email a few seconds after that. Worth a try.
