Since I know a few people are still in the hunt for video card deals in the non-stratosphere pricing range: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500270
This brings it down to the general price range of Radeon 7850s at the moment, so while not the hottest deal that's been seen on...
$179AR FS Zotac GTX 660 on newegg right now, with free Assassin's Creed III ($199 before rebate). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500270
Maybe not a 'hot' deal, but the best seen recently and about $40 lower than any comparable 7870 (and beats most 7850 2GB prices of late). I...
7850's are still hovering around $200 today. 6850's from the last generation are still hovering in the $150-180 range (despite the fact I got mine years ago for less!). Unless you plan to purchase used, I really don't know that the card will dip that low especially in the 2-4month timespan.
Wow, that's quite the overclock on the 7850, and the GTX 660 still sounds like it holds its own. tigerdirect.com has a couple Galaxy 660 models for $209 w/$10 rebate + game right now. That's only $10 higher that the Powercolor PCS+ 7850. It clearly isn't the $165 deal, but...
That comparison is pretty impressive since the 5xx series is supposed to be "last gen" tech. Until you get down to the power consumption section, anyway. Holy crap.
Yeah, the deals have been few and far between :( I'm hoping for something before xmas, but my willpower is flagging. The Powercolor PCS+ 7850 for $194 is starting to look like a 'deal' (it isn't on sale, that just seems to be the price - $184AR+shipping). There is a Sapphire 7850 for $159AR, but...
It is completely random. The problem in theory was fixed several months ago, but that doesn't mean retailers have flushed out all their stock yet. In fact, I noticed some places like ncix.com specifically mention that some cards are vendor-warranty only, and won't accept returns except via the...
Just putting this out there as an option, but it appears that a GTX 660 will also hold its own against the 7850/7870. Not as overclockable, though. It really comes down to what deals pop up in the near future. In the past few weeks, the 7850 has gone as low as ~$150AR, the GTX 660 for ~$165AR...
Those prices only come around in rare deals, and usually sell out within minutes. Right now, prices are hovering around $180-200 for the 7850 and $220-$250 for the 7870, which is unfortunate. I've been waiting on the 'right' 7870 deal myself, and have missed the few that have happened.
Thanks. I must have still been focused on my other PC parts at the time. Silly me. Oh, I see. AR price. I tend to zero-in on out the door price, and missed it :P
