Need a dual-proc system

I'm looking to build a low-cost dualie for a small office server. Finances are a bit tight, so I need something that doesn't require Athlon MP's or high-end Intel cpu's. They're not so tight that I would settle for dual Celeron's, but I would be happy with dual Durons. Any recommendations people?

Looking for an ECS K7S5A replacement

A biostar or MSI board with integrated vid would work well for the tasks you describe, and are relatively cheap. I've built systems with both, and they were very stable, and still kickin'.

Operating temperature for Athlon MP 1800+?

<< For *ALL* AMD processors the max temp you can get before damage occurs is 90C. That's *DIE* temp. I.E. 75C or so thermistor temp. Prolly less. Optimal operating temprature is probably around 50-60C Die temp, or around 40-50C thermistor temp. I would say anything over 60C thermistor is really...

I need a CPU will run stable with ONLY a heatsink.

Win XP and Memory

My rule of thumb is, minimum of 256mb ram for any Windows OS. Increase as needed for your particular apps. ;)

OK WTH? XP using 2.2GB of HD space with a FRESH install!!!!

In addition to trimming your System Restore size, you should also (do we always forget?) resize your Recycle Bin.

which OS to buy?

If you're on a home or small office network, or have a system with 2 cpu's, get the Pro version. Otherwise the Home version is just fine.

Question in XP on converting to NTFS from FAT32

<< You should read the help file for Computer Management, under the Disk Management section, before converting. Apparently there are some differences between a converted drive and a drive that was natively formatted with NTFS. I'm not sure how much of a difference it'll make in performance, or...

Heat spreaders not covering the whole chip...is this potentially bad?

I wouldn't worry about it. HEat spreaders aren't going to do that much for you anyway, unless you are aggressively overclocking your memory. In that case, make sure you have good airflow through your case, that will do more for cooling your ram than anything else.

Whats a good QUIET 40gig hard drive ?

I've got WD 20gb, 30gb, and 40gb 7200rpm drives between 3 of my computers. They are all so silent you have to strain to hear them.
