Is Socket AM3 dead?

Perfectly happy with my 2 AM3 based systems. Having an SSD is the key in today's desktops. People playing the CPU upgrade game and not having an SSD are foolish.

I always skip at least one or two upgrade cycles

I got my phenom II last OCT (2010) and I'll make due til 2012 at least. BD has made the decision pretty easy. That six core part looks kind of cool. If I can scare up a cheap DDR3 mobo for it, I might try one.

Exactly like that except for "very hip" clear side window with a louvered 80mm fan mount. I think I had my Hercules Vid card in here with 2 x Voodoo II's in SLI. haha.....Masscool makes some very quiet/functional/inexpensive 80mm fans. The Scythe cpu cooler I use isn't quiet but it's not a...

LOL, you're probably right about the case but I love the damn thing. all steel and would probably kill somebody if I threw it out the window. That Palit linked by Chinoman will do quite nicely, thanks for the input fellas.

why are vid cards so BIG/LONG?

Are there any legit gaming cards that aren't as long as a surfboard? I have a Chieftech full tower case and because I have 4 HDDs ( 2 in lower fan housing ) I can't fit an HD4850 in the damn thing. I'm using an HD5670 which is a nice sized piece but is more a multimedia than gaming card...

Same thing happened to me. Just a dog CPU. Build a cheap rig with it and sell it to somebody as a web surfing box.

Kingston V100 64Gb SSD $70 ar

I don't think anyone's faster with rebate service than Kingston. They're terrific and it's a check not some funky visa PITA debit card.
