Question about partitioning

yup, partition magic is a very cool program that can do what you need.. but as Zepper said, make a backup of your important files just in case.. there shouldn't be any problems though..

also, another important factor is the screen.. there are generally 3 different type of screens available.. xga, sxga, uxga.. there's also widescreen avaiable but it depends on the model that you are looking at.. the uxga is definately the best looking screen and has the highest resolution...

who here has the most outdated video card?

i have the ati '98 xpert pro 8mb card that i still run in my older computer.. my dad uses it quite often for business work... but his programs don't require a powerful computer at all, so it works out quite well.

logitech z-640s

there is quite a bit of bass in them... adequete for a descent sized room.. if you turn the bass up really high, it is quite powerful ;)

Care and feeding of a LCD?

i get mine to turn off at a certain time.. usually after 3 min since i'm using a laptop... i haven't had any problems at all so far.

Wireless woes - please help me

log into your router using the standard rj45 connection... check all your wireless settings.. for now, disable the use of wep keys and enable ssid broadcasting... one more thing, make sure that your router and your wireless cards are on the same channel... after you do this, you shouldn't run...

HD transfer questions

if you are just planniing on moving data, then the easiest way would be to plug your secondary drive into your computer as the slave drive... make sure that your jumpers are setup correctly for both hard drives.. this way, when you go to windows explorer, you'll see both drives there.. then...

Dual Boot Problem Windows XP and 98

that sounds odd... it looks like you are doing everything correctly.. in the installation of the 2 different os's, did you select the proper drive to install the os on?? perhaps you might have selected the wrong one.. also, you might want to use fdisk to recreate your partitions, then try...

Cable Modem Question

yes you can do that.. i'm doing that as well.. i'm actually splitting it in 3.. i'm using 2 tv's and one to the cable modem.. i'm just using a generic splitter and i'm getting good performance.. i had no noticable performance issues when i split the connection.

Need inexpesnive 5.1 Speakers, Help!

the best speakers for a budget 5.1 sound system would probably be the logitech z640's.. but they are $65 at newegg.. a bit over your price range.. well worth it though.. 5.1 sound is only important if you play a lot of games (that support 5.1) or dvd's.. other than that, the center speaker...

MX500 light stays on?

could it be something with your BIOS settings?? i'm using this mouse as well and i don't have any of the problems that you have mentioned.. you might also want to install the latest drivers to see if it helps.. if it doesn't and you prefer to not have any drivers, then just uninstall it...

Best Mouse for Gaming?

i'm using the mx500 and i don't notice any wrong movements when i life the mouse and move it over... i would suggest that you get either the mx500 or mx700 if you are a heavy gamer.. they have a lot of customizable buttons that you can bind to different stuff in games.. if price is an issue...

Can't boot from CD? Need help installing XP Full version please.

either use boot disks or do this: go into your BIOS > change bootup sequence to CDROM as the first device in the list save settings and put in xp cd... do a restart... it should bootup from your cdrom now..

Considering purchasing the logitech z-680 speakers, thoughts?

if you are going for high end speakers, i would suggest that you also take a serious look at the kplisch 5.1 ones... they are pretty much the top of the line in computer speakers at the moment.. i have heard from other users that they don't have the hissing problem anymore... so i guess maybe...
