3800+ or 2GB RAM?

Have you factored in the cost of a new motherboard if you get the X2? What do you plan on getting?

Which board DFI, MSI, ASUS, or Gigabyte

I was wondring the exact same thing. You said you don't are about SLI, so just get an NF4-Ultra motherboard. You will save yourself around $50, and probably wont notice the difference. However, if your sticking to an SLI board (why???) then my vote goes to the Asus A8N-SLI Premium.

whats are the fastest "passive cooled" ati and nvidia cards?

That is acutally not passivly cooled. There is a fan on the back of the card. Boonesmi, the Gigabyte X800XL is the fastest fanless card out there, but to my knowledge it is only PCI-E. If you want to stick with AGP, Gigabyte may have a fanless 6600GT.

xfx or asus?

First off, like I said, I know the difference, but not everyone will, 2nd off, its not just the GT. Look at the X800XL example I gave. They only have 1 x800xl, but its a downclocked DDR1 card. There 6600GT is also downclocked. Im sure if I looked there are other examples also.

I sure as hell know what I am buying, but not everyone does...and Asus is trying to take advange of that, plain and simple. If they werent, they would give there cards different names to make the downgrades to the standard more apparent, but they dont.

Rosewill X800XL PCI-E

Yeah, its just rebadged BBATI, so no worried on the quality of the card, it should be good. The customr sevice in the event of problem however, that I cant vouch for. I would say go for it. Its a great price.

Its just poor busniess practice the way Asus tricks customers I understand other companies to it, such as your atlantis example, but they atleast add something to the name to raise a question. Asus is giving the products the exact same name. Like you said, this not really woth arguing over, but...

Ive never had a problem with XFX, but if there cards have shown problems then thats fine, dont get XFX, but I still in any right mind cannot reccomend ASUS. Also, on the issue of pricing, ill even go with you on that and saying its the retail marking it up, that doesnt exuse the fac that most of...

If asus charges the retailer more for the card, the retailer is naturally going to raise the price. Dont think Asus is selling these card to resalers for the same prices as everyone else. Alsoo..I still dont see how everyone can look past the fact that Asus cripples their cards and then gives...
