I think that the people who are waiting for the 7xxx prices to fall are going to be 1) waiting very long and 2) very disappointed at what the prices will level off at.
The days of (relatively) cheap high end video cards are gone... and they are never coming back.
I think that it is telling that very few people say that their card was killed by the flashing.
I have this poll on three forums and only one person said that it killed their card (which was within 2 months). That's out of about 10 or so responses.
Seems like the OC temps reach 80-90'C. I think still in the safe zone but really high.
I read only on report of that high a temp with stock settings, but that was probably just a defective card. I think it was an Asus and there was a problem with the card design.
There was a lot of scare mongering over flashing a 6970 bios to a 6950. I believe that one of the concerns was over the memory voltage and possible problems with the VRMs.
I am curious as to what results people have had after flashing their 6950s to a 6970.
What problems (if any) have you...
You know its funny that you mention the 6950 when AMD took all of them off the market before the 7xxxs came out.
Makes me think that they will indeed keep prices high on these newer cards since there is no real alternative. Is there?
I think that you get an email then a link to a temporary site to print the coupon. Once you leave the site it is deactivated. So if you go and don't print the coupon you are SoL.
