Hello!
I just built a new system 3 days ago using the EpoX-9NPA+ Ultra motherboard and have so far experienced 3 strange freezes of the machine.
I have BTW read all 82 pages of this thread, but I am not quite sure if my situation fits what others have experienced/reported here..
The 3...
I have just ordered an EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra board together with an AMD X2 3800+ CPU for my system upgrade.
Now I am looking for a suitable PCI-E graphics card to install on this board. Since I am planning on reusing the PSU from my old system I would like to use a graphics card with the lowest...
I am looking for a PCI-E graphics card with the lowest possible power consumption.
Any recommendations anyone? (it should be passively cooled BTW, no fans )
Does anyone know anything specific about the power consumption (as well as performance) of the following cards:
* XFX GeForce 6500...
Would it be possible at all to overclock an AMD X2 3800+ on this motherboard when using PC2700 (333 MHz) DDR-RAM?
I guess this would mean that the 'Memclock value' would have to bet set lower than 166? Is it possible to set it to 133 ?
If it would be possible to set 'Memclock value' to...
renethx, thank you for your reassurement about using PC2700 RAM.
I think, however, I might not have explained myself good enough:
My concern was that I might end in a "chicken-and-egg" situation where I would like to change the 'Memclock value' in the BIOS settings to [AUTO] but is unable...
Would it be problematic to use PC2700 DDR RAM on the MSI K8NGM2-FID motherboard?
I am specifically thinking about the 'Memclock value' which I guess should be effectively set to 166 Mhz ? What's the default 'Memclock value' ? [AUTO] or [200] ?
if the default value is set to [Auto] I should...
OK, I had hoped it should be even faster.
I have seen other reports saying approx. this:
AMD X2 3800+ (stock speed): 750-800 MB/sec
AMD X2 3800+ (2.5 Ghz): 925 MB/sec
AMD X2 4800+ (stock speed): 930 MB/sec
My system - AMD Athlon XP 2200+: 375 MB/sec
Hi!
Does anyone know of any published benchmarks for PAR2-generation/repair using Conroe CPUs?
Or maybe someone reading this forum who has a Conroe CPU could do a small test?
I am just very curious as to approx. how many MB/sec one is able to achieve for PAR2 generation using various...
renethx, thank you for your clarification regarding PCI 2.3 and 3.3/5 volt and the physical slot differences and so on. Very useful information.
And thank you for the ASUS P5B-VM suggestion. Somehow that one must have slipped me by . With regards to motherboard selection I was initially on...
A challenge for all of you hardware experts on this forum:
Are you able to find me an existing or upcoming Conroe motherboard which satisfies the following requirements?:
* Core 2 Duo ready
* Firewire integrated
* at least 2 PCI 2.2 PCI slots
* integrated graphics
* (preferably 2 IDE...
If I were to go for the AM2 route meaning I would have to buy DDR2 RAM, one could argue that by just adding a very little amount of money could get me a E6300 Conroe CPU. And that thought, I would have to agree, surely is kind of tempting.
There is however a "slight" problem. I have yet to...
I am thinking about upgrading my old Athlon XP system to a dual-core processor system for the smallest possible amount of money.
The most important decision factors for me is:
* stability (I have no intention/desire/need for overclocking )
* Reuse of my old components
* price
The MSI...
Does anyone know what PCI revisions the Asus P5W DH motherboard supports? PCI 2.2 / 2.3 ?
The ASUS P5N32-SLI SE has PCI 2.2 slots, it specifically says in the specifications on Asus website. I am however unable to find anything specific about the PCI revision for the Asus P5W DH motherboard...
Does anyone know what PCI revision the MSI K8NGM2-FID and K9NGM2-FID cards support? PCI 2.1 / 2.2 / 2.3 ?
In the manuals for the 2 cards (downloaded from MSIs website) it only says:
* Two 32-bit Master 3.3v/5v PCI Bus slots
Reading up on the PCI standards, Wikipedia for instance says...
