Mitron has something on their site regarding the longevity of the MLC drives and it is something like 50+ years with normal usage. I'd post the link but I don't have it off hand but it was on their site.
Vista and Win 7 align properly by default...only XP needs correction which is easily done when you install. OCZ now has an app to perform trim but it is in beta and is working for XP 32 for the moment so you may just have your trim tool sooner than later :)

That's only natural being that the firmware is for the controller and the controller is Indilinx product but at the very least each company has input into how the firmware should be configured so the even if the drive designs are identical, performance will differ between the 2 mfgr drives...
