Me too. It's clunky and takes time to boot etc -easier to just find my phone. I was hoping for something that would free me from searching for my phone every time I want to turn a light on or edit settings. Seems a web-based solution accessible from any PC would be the way to go.
I was...
Does anyone know of a desktop app for Wink? I find it clumsy and inconvenient to go get my phone out of the car when sitting in the house and a light fails to turn on per schedule.
I know that you can run an Android emulator that runs the Wink app, but it seems silly to boot into a whole...
Took delivery yesterday. I ordered 2 at $20 and boy was the box HEAVY for 2 power strips. Likewise, took 2 tries to sync but I am now using the strip to power an outside security light (sunset/sunrise). I'm happy because I did have 2 GE Link bulbs in the security light and so using the strip...
I have one on my wishlist but I think they are a little pricey right now. I missed the $99 price a few weeks ago but am ready to pounce when it comes around again. :)
+1 - Originally I complained of the unreliability of turning on lights etc, but for the last month or so Wink has performed pretty good.
Even my wife has noticed how nice it is to have our lights on a reliable schedule for dawn/dusk and 'on vacation'.
If my wife is noticing my geek hobby...
Me too. I have 2 GE Link bulbs in an outside security light. The light plugs into an outlet in the garage. As I need more bulbs, I can now use this strip to control the security light and use regular bulbs - freeing up 2 GE Link bulbs.
Lots of negative reviews but for $20, I will chance it...
Very tempting :) However, the device assumes 'buying into' the whole Wink ecosystem. Without 'local control' it makes me wary that if Wink 'went away', Im left with a $99 dooorstop. :)
Can Alexa set light schedules? For example can you say:
"Alexa - set lighting schedule for porch light to come on daily at 9pm"
or is limited to more basic commands such as:
"Alexa - turn on porch light"
Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, more half-baked functionality. I also see the suggestion of future 'Apple Watch' support. I'd suggest that Wink figure out how to make my light bulb operate (on / off) on a more than 60% success ratio first.
I have a new hub and 6 GE Link bulbs. The bulbs all seem to take turns on who is...
At this stage, would anyone still recommend buying GE Link Bulbs?
I need to add 4 more but if they are soon to be obsolete, I will hold off.
Any ideas if GE bulbs will work with the new Apple or Android Home Automation? I'd hate to drop $60 on bulbs this weekend and Wink to go away next...
