Printer adds funny character to page

My venerable Epson Action Laser II adds a wierd character to each page, about in the middle, though not always in the same place. It looks a little like this: __"__ It prints like that from every program (Win2K, SP4). I tried to see if it would do it from Linux, but my live version of...

advice on best cooler for OC Athlon64 3000+

My wife's 754 3000+ runs great at 2.5GHz with XP-120 and 120mm fan. Antec 480 PSU, DFI board, OCZ RAM at 1:1.

Wireless Router and Phone Conflict?

I'm planning to install wireless connections for computers in conjunction with new cordless phones, and I was wondering if there is a conflict between the two systems. For example, the Linksys router appears to use the 2.4 GHz band. Should I avoid a cordless phone using the same frequency...

NT 4 Server install

I don't think you can install from a harddrive to the same harddrive. You might try making the floppies and starting the installation from them. Can you get access to the original installation CD?

HSF Question...

I've used Alpha heatsinks on a multitude of aggressively overclocked systems with very satisfactory results, to include this P4-2.6C running very stable at FSB 266 on an IS-7. I will agree that some of the newer devices are likely better.

Abit IS7-E Temp and CPU Volt Problem

Abit board temps always seem to read high, especially the IS-7. And their volts always read low. Don't worry; your readings are just fine. Abit says that temps to 90 are OK. I've seen 77 running two instances of Prime 95 without errors. I don't get any benefit giving my CPU much more than...

Try the Suse 9.0 Live first. Very nice. Still can't get it to properly print to my Epson Action Laser II printer. Anyone got some suggestions?

Copying to new hard drive: possible to maintain OS install?

I used Copy Commander 7.05 to ghost from my Promise (Ultra 66 modded) RAID 0 to onboard SATA RAID 0. I didn't care for how it automatically partitioned the SATA array, but it otherwise worked OK.

Linux and HT , whose runnning this combo ?

Mandrake 9.2 recognizes two processors on my IS-7. I don't know if it makes much difference; I haven't tested it with any CPU-intensive tasks.

P4 2.4/2.6C overclocking and recommendations

Urinal Mint, It's the luck of the draw, and some are better than others. Do you have good cooling with lots of airflow? Do you have a good power supply? Are you pushing your RAM too hard and need to drop the CPU:MEM ratio or change the latency? Did you boost your vCore (not to mention vDimm)...

You should choose the processor based on your RAM capabilities. I'm very happy with a 2.6C on IS-7, running FSB 266, 5:4, Corsair XMS 3500 (DDR428) 2-7-3-3. Those are the most stable settings, but can run at FSB 280, 2-6-2-2. Beware that ABIT boards read voltages low and temps high. D1...

Thanks for the address. We probably won't see those for sale in the US, but I really would like to have one. Fortunately, I've got a friend in the UK . . . . 704x288; I think I'll give it a try.
