  1. Discussion First contact with Ryzen 5600G... Wow!

I've been pretty happy with mine, I have both the 5600G and 5700G. I do wish they had better performance in video editors, but thats really a software issue, not an APU issue,
  2. Question Choice of memory for MSI B450M MORTAR MAX

Mine runs with a 2400g in one machine and a 3400g in another, not OC’d, just with XMP enabled to run the retail speeds. The boards are an Asrock B450 Fatality ITX, and an MSI B450 I Gaming plus AC (ITX).
  3. Question Budget graphics for basic CAD work?

Thanks guys, looking at a refurb GTX 1050 for the project, along with an i3 9100f. Should fit the bill nicely.
  4. Question Choice of memory for MSI B450M MORTAR MAX

I’ve had success with Gskill TridentZ 3200 kits with my 2400G and 3400G machines, 16gb kit in one and 32gb kit in the other. XMP enabled running at the spec’d 3200 speed with no issues.
  5. Question Budget graphics for basic CAD work?

So an AMD APU or faster Intel quad core with a decent IGPU would be fine for that? That’s likely the most intensive thing he will use it for...CAD, documents, internet, video, etc. He is an older guy and not into gaming at all so I just want to spec something that will do what he needs for...
  6. Question Budget graphics for basic CAD work?

A coworker wants assistance building a new system for basic tasks and some purely educational CAD software. What budget graphics solution would work well for this application? The CPU, board, etc, have not been chosen so I figured the graphics would be the best starting point. Thanks in...
  7. Looking for mini-itx board for an old 6600K (Skylake)

Look at the ASRock B150M-HDS at Newegg, it’s called a micro ATX but it’s a mini ITX with another pcie slot. So if your itx case has two or more expansion slots it should fit. And it’s cheap.
  8. Question Looking for motherboards for 2200G.

For the AMD APUs I recommend something with a heatsink on the the SOC portion of the VRM but many ITX and uATX don’t have them. Asrock and Gigabyte offer these...I recommend the Asrock Steel Legend uATX board. It doesn’t have built in WiFi but that can be added easily enough.
  9. mITX non-gaming suggestion

If you have to go with Intel, it’s hard to beat a Shuttle XPC. Personally I would go with a Ryzen 5 3400G and a B450 board that would easily be on par with the 7700T in processing, but head and shoulders above on graphics. Also keep in mind the cost difference. For what you would pay for just...
  10. Micro ATX - mATX - life expectancies

I have two Intel DG45ID boards and a SG45H7 XPC (all G45 chipsets) with quad cores, etc...vintage 775 setups still running daily. I plan to be replacing these soon, so I’m hoping my new builds will do as well.
  11. AMD B450 based motherboard users.

Asrock B450 mini—ITX, Ryzen 5 2400g, Gskill RAM, Win10...so far it’s been flawless at stock speeds. Both the board and RAM support XMP 2.0 so with a simple bios selection the RAM is running at 3200. I hadn’t built a new machine in a few years, and even longer with anything AMD, but I’m...
  12. ITX boards with 4 RAM slots?

I have not seen any bare ITX boards for DIY builds with four RAM slots, however some of the bare bone suppliers like Shuttle commonly offer models with four, though only on the Intel platform at this time. I have a couple of them myself.
  13. Any new NAS solutions/innovations?

If you build your own, the WOL, etc features are hardware dependent. However, a good software to try is NAS4FREE, which is a direct continuation of the original FREENAS project which has since been bought out. NAS4FREE is modular and supports wireless, remote access, etc.
  14. Biking gurus, I bought the bd bike & upgraded the tires, how much should I inflate?

Another sidewall recommendation here, stay within 10 PSI under for your weight and you'll be fine. FYI, avoid going over the rated PSI unless you have very high quality tires & rims that you know will be fine running over inflated. I run my Continentals and Specialized tires at 160, but I'm a...
  15. Problems With Dynamite Data?

It works fine on my home machine, must have something to do with access via T-mobile's network.
