With a little bit of work (and a lot of fun), it would be easy to take a couple of unused wires off of the CAT5 and have it supply power over the ethernet (POE) to this camera. If you do this, put a small (1uF) and a larger (20uF) capacitor at the end of the wires near the camera to absorb any...
It's a problem on the A60, A70 and S110. (If you do a quick google search).
My A70 was an awesome camera up until the day it died (E18). Now it will be a nice project. There is a Russian web site on how to fix the jammed zoom. If you go to the web site, make sure that your OS is updated, AV...
Warning!!!
Before you buy a Canon camera, do a google search for: canon E18
Here's a starter: http://www.bitnet.cx/canon.html
You'll wish that you had purchased something other than Canon!
A good web site (possibly the best) for cameras: http://www.steves-digicams.com/
It looks like the E18 error is not just a problem with the A70. The Canon Digital Elph S110 also has the same problem. The problem may be in the entire Canon lineup.
I'm staying away from Canon. There are some nice Fuji models that I'll take a look at.
Info about the error...
I'm really gun-shy about the A75.
I loved my A70, right up until the time I got the "E18" error (that has killed many A70 cameras).
I'm really gun-shy about ANYTHING Canon, since their response to customers that got these defective cameras has been: "Up Yours, Customer!. Sucker!"

Got mine at the Manchester, NH store. They had a lot of them in stock on the floor.
Looks like there may be a $5 off coupon that could make this a better deal. The was also posted in June on the Big Bilfold web site.
Sears "Companion" 4 piece 14.4v drill, sander, jig saw, flashlight with 2 batts and charger.
$19.99 close-out at BM. $49.88 online.
Not a "top-shelf" brand, but certainly good for almost anyone, or for a second drill. Use the Makita or DeWalt for the big jobs...
Hi Slacker,
If you want a repeater, you really need to buy a product made for that purpose. A "repeater" does exactly what its name implies: It "repeats" (re-times the signal, boosts the signal that was attenuated along the wire, etc). A wireless repeater would do the same thing.
Most...
Naustica,
Your slow-response on the wired port was probably an network card "auto-negotiate" problem. Try setting your PC's NIC to 100Mb/s Half Duplex (rather than auto-negotiate).
I see this very often with many network devices. Every vendor seems to do "auto-negotiate" a bit differently...

L.L. Bean sues pop-up advertisers.
"The retailers named in the lawsuits contracted with software company Claria Corp., which creates programs to track online habits, Kelley said. These programs then create windows to display specific advertisements when a Web browser...
I've got a lot of this X10 stuff around the house (in the original boxes!!!).
Some of it I use all the time (like the remotes and the SocketRocket).
I've had three of the appliance and dimmer modules die on me, for no reason, that I can think of.
I've got a hunch that this is not the...
HotDeal because it's "cool", and not a bad price!
