Maybe I should have been more precise then and asked paper launch? regarding the TL-56 and TL-60 which were 'released' some time ago but don't appear to be in use in any of the listed notebooks that are actually out now (supposedly Ferarri will have one, but that is about it).

OK... only 3 manufacturers. There are, however, tons of smaller manufacturers, and I haven't seen any of them pick up on it yet. Additionally, the MSI is nothing but a tiny laptop without serious performance. The HP/Compaq ones are low-end without any serious performance or anything. The Acer...

Turion 64 X2 Paper Launch?

OK... it was well over a month now since AMD 'launched' the Turion 64 X2, and yet where are the laptops? Oh sure I see the MSI and HP ones out, and Acer is apparently shipping some Aspire 5100 (that they don't even mention on their website), but that is a dismal selection and, for that matter...

Thecus N2100 lost data?

OK... my friend has a Thecus N2100 and is using it in a mirrored setup (original firmware, hasn't been updated yet). Anyway, he was using it earlier today then, suddenly, couldn't connect to it. He turned it off, turned it back on, and the orange light started blinking which seems to indicate...

Are Gateway laptops reliable?

I had a friend who used to work as a tech at Gateway... while they are grat over the phone and everything, at the repair shop he worked at he was INSTRUCTED to work HARD to find anything that might even possibly void a warranty. If it was a scratch then he could say it was bumped too hard, etc...

Whats the best laptop on the market?

Actually... there is one area where you shouldn't skimp NO MATTER WHAT. Get a 7200 RPM HD. One of the laptop review sites did a great article which showed that, while the performance difference was incredible, there was no real effect on power usage, and ony a MINOR effect on system noise/etc...

The 1901FP and others just won't look as sharp, or anywhere near as good, as the 2005FPW. Since you can get such good deals on the 2005FPW I just don't see why anyone would look at anything else...
