Tuniq tower = powerful

I've heard good things about that cooler. Guess they were all true. Glad it's working that well for you, Dawn. Unless it was vastly superior to the XP120, I doubt I'll change it till I get an H2O system rigged up, or maybe till OCZ gets their ducks in a row with that phase change unit.

I have 2 gigs of G.SKILL Extreme PC3200 running 236MHz w/ 2.5-3-3-8-1T timings. We have very similiar setups. My Opty 165 runs 2.6GHz idling around 32°C-34°C and mid to low 40°'s under load. Depending on the stepping you get, I wouldn't be surprised to see >2.8GHz from your setup on good air...

I would completely agree with Absolute0. The speed binning process that AMD uses actually can lean towards making the 'lower' binned products the faster clockers. Do a little research & note how the Athlon XP 2500+, and 2800+ would routinely OC far past what a 3200+, their top of the line...

Opteron 165 or faster Single Core?

It should support it just fine. They can't 'officially' support the Optys, as they're not supposed to be consumer class hardware. Anything that will support an X2 or FX will support an Opteron 1xx.

Switch to opty?

If you're already getting 2.4GHz stable with your 3800+, I really don't think it's worth the trouble of selling it & going with the 165. The only real advantage you'ld be getting is 1MB of cache per core instead of the 512k per core you have now. Unless you run some apps that really scream...

Whats a good gaming Proccessor for 754?

You should easily be able to overclock that 3000+ to 2.2 GHz. Even if the RAM doesn't want to go too much higher, you should be able to get 245 MHz on the CPU with a divider. I have yet to own a 512 or 1GB stick of PC3200 that wasn't good for at least 216fsb, so you should be fine. The 754...
