I have around 330.00 for a GPU

GTX970 strix or better bang for buck R9 290 pcs+ They're the cheapest I could find, except there's a even cheaper xfx R9 290 DD around $245.

Getting Newegg credit on my 970's... Which 290/290x in CF?

It's actually faster than R9 290X CF iirc, it's good choice otherwise go CF R9 290s ,they're stupid cheap. OT:you're the guy from Reddit right? ;)

GTX 960 is expected to launch next month.

How much an OEM or those prebuilt systems costs? idk about you but it's around $300-400 here ,most of them comes with 270w-450w PSUs ,while majority of them is 350w or below. I have lots of friends who have those pre-built PCs ,and tell you what, they have no clue whatsoever about PC hardware...

I'm actually more worried about that 128 bit bandwith and how it'll effect the performance on upcoming 2015 AAA games ,performance is exactly where it should be. But it takes overclocking to match the R9 280 ,and it overclocks too you know,but as you mentioned ,it's an old card . But for...
