Motherboard power, 8-phase, 16-phase power?

Well the engineer is talking about the PSU while the other guy is talking about the onboard motherboard power regulation.Two completely different things.They are both right about the respective parts they are talking about.

AMD 9850 X4 Blacky motherboard choice !!

the sapphire mobo is built by DFI and is recommended by AMD,still dont know why AMD doesnt recommend the DFI,probably because they know people will overclock the s### out of it and blame them when things break.By the way the DFI 790fx M2RS kicks ass

My motherboard might be dying

From an XP 2000 to an X2 5000

Whoa Ive got the dfi nf4 at work, I let the kids play with the nf2,couldnt stand the lag.The others at work have p3s and p4s,shudder.

Why don't new motherboards have 2nd IDE controller?

Thought you were refering to Hybrid drives, Toshiba IIRC. Sata drives with Flash buffers of 8 gigabytes. As I heard they wont be released to desktop use,due to Vista being a piece of trash. Server market only at first. Dvorak rants about it all the time at PC mag. Just checked as of now only...

Can you test mobo without cpu just to see if it works....beeps?

should not damage anything,if you get the proper beep code for cpu you know the mobo is good to the cpu at least.could still have damaged traces to, say vid card.Just do minimum install, cpu, mem, and vid card.Preferably outside the case.

Sata drives are as cheap as pata,less cable mess, lower power consumption,wider bandwidth, Havent bought one since the NF7S.No, correction the Dfi NF2. just use the Ide adapter for older drives. Though I use TMODS bios CD method for flashing,I still use a floppy. The only reason I still use any...

Overclocking and You.. Why?

AMD 45nm in production now

did i get a faulty 65nm brisbane then? because even with a crap onboard video mobo it hit 2.9@ stock voltages,3.0 with .07 volts increase.1.39vcore

What do you run as a daily overclock speed?

in the sig.clocked back from point at which voltages had to increase too much to suit me. all can go higher with heat raising voltages.

Just purchased an AMD 4400+ Brisbane 65nm

Im was running 1.39vcore@38c to get 3.0 stable, 2900@ stock voltages 1.32v since dropped to 1.36 as i found the instabilities were due to ram timings @450+ changed divider viola.mobo doesnt regulate vcore well at any other setting so cant go lower.actually doesnt change at all next 2 lower...
