Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 and 7 won't boot into linux from USB key

used netbootin, same result the newer ga-990xfa-ud3 is a newer revision. i've never reverted to an earlier bios before, only updated. anything i should know? didn't work

yea, newegg's prices. i remember seeing powercolor 290's for $449.99 in late december, and i passed because they were powercolor:oops: the one's they have in stock now are $589.99+

yes, and that seems to be the issue but i can't pinpoint why. the two older boards have older versions of the bios, and they boot just fine.

i'll try using netbootin tomorrow. i currently use win32 disk imager and have had no issues with any other motherboard but these two. i've used the HP format tool, as well as disk utility in OS X to format. the drives boot fine in other computers.

I have to give it up to MSI

when people are overclocking to get better performance and cramping 4 cards onto a motherboard with no airflow, they kill cards. people are greedy and will try to squeeze every ounce of performance out of their cards knowing they can just RMA. a card run at stock with good airflow shouldn't...

i'd been watching their in stock radeon prices soar, and was really disappointed. they've even started advertising "bitcoin" mining products and bundles that are grossly marked up. there used to be a microcenter near me (san jose, ca) but it closed last year i think; a real shame.

Just spotted a new mobo line from ECS on Newegg: L33T Gaming

eh....ECS.... like virtuallarry said, their reputation pretty much hasn't changed over the past few years. they're kinda like the hyundai of motherboard manufacturers; the product is getting better but people still don't respect the image.

that's real crappy that they couldn't replace your 290 since demand went up, but frankly i doubt any big box retailer would have given you "market value" for a card over what you originally paid. if they did this for everyone, where does the line get drawn? if you bought a new pair of jordans...

i have a few of the tx 850's (v2) and they are rock solid compared to the tx750w's i got from tiger direct. also, i guess RMA'ing the tx750w's got me flagged or something. they used to never ask for copies of my invoices, and now i get asked every time:|

Ref hd7970 both BIOS with bad flash, dead?

install another graphics cards and plug that one into your display, boot into safe mode and uninstall the drivers for your card, and then boot into windows and reflash your bad card. hopefully that does the trick. you could try finding a bios chip from the same exact card, but it would require...
