    WinME doesn't shut down properly - please help

    My mother had this problem with her HP machine. Her problem turned out to be the active desktop. If you're not using the active desktop, try turning it off and see if that helps. Worked for her. Good luck. X

    Well, I'm not sure exactly what it was, but thank you SO much for the advice, guys. I took all components off the motherboard, then took out the battery. When I put everything back together, it worked!!! Thanks again for the advice. I think I'm still going to get a new motherboard for that...

    Stupid emachines jumpers are all software-detected. There are NO manual jumpers on this board. THanks for the other suggestions, though. I will try them out. X
