W2K lockup when Matrox drivers are installed

Clean install of W2K using all hardware that worked great with W98SE. Changed to W2K because (big surprise) W9x eventually became so bloated/corrupted/constipated that defragging took 3hrs! Sys boots normally when using default VGA drivers, but with either Matrox' latest or MS-approved...

I believe the OCR program is called Read Iris, and it is indeed on the CD.

Abit KR7A RAID RAM problems

Viahardware.com has a FAQ site dedicated to Abit's KR7a motherboards, both raid and non-raid. It is quite extensive and might have the answer you are looking for. Good luck.

Lackluster Overclock : more problems under?

You are probably running into PCI bus problems beginning at around 106-107 - the components on the PCI bus don't like running too far off of the 33MHz spec, and at 106 they're already running at 35MHz (your board uses a 3/1 divider from 100MHz up to around 125MHz). So don't inch your way up...

My Abit KR7A-RAID does not want to display a video signal. How can I fix this?

Fitting the alpha8045 on the AthlonXP

Several people have asked this question. The short answer is to install the heat sink with no change in procedure. And that's straight from AMD.

overclocking 1,33 t-bird without unlocking???

Running a t-bird without a heatsink is not only a quick way to ruin the cpu, it is the fastest way, PERIOD! Using a heatsink without a fan mounted will only prolong, by a short time, the inevitable.

3 pin/4 pin Heatsink Fan connector - Question

You could pull the power and ground wires(red and black, I believe) from the 3-pin conn and just plug that into the cpu fan connector. Use the molex conn only to power the fan.

Recommendations for OCing my 1.4 Tbird

Since there are many different combos all of which result in the same (or nearly so) cpu speed, you'll find that your overall sys performance will be higher with a higher fsb. So find the highest stable fsb speed and you'll have found the best combo for your system (e.g. if your cpu maxes out...

If your cpu is running in the low/mid 40's(C), I wouldn't worry about whether there is any thermal compound between cpu and HS. There MUST be to get that temp.
