To clarify, it was faster in 3dMark benchmarks by about 60%, but about 40% slower in World of Warcraft and the same speed in Aion. Speed in an artificial benchmark isn't important to me, only what I get in the real games I play. I've heard WoW "likes" nVidia cards more than ATI ones though, so...

2560x1600 video card options

Okay, so I picked up a 30" Dell LCD a couple of years ago and an 8800GTX OC from eVGA at the same time. I've been incredibly happy with it, and even that "old" card was able to drive most games at reasonable settings even at that high resolution. Sadly, my video card just died. I was an idiot...

5.1 or 7.1 speakers - Recommendations?

I did a bunch of searching and found various info on the Gigaworks S750, Logitech Z5500, and Klipsch Ultra Promedia 5.1's, but noticed all of these sets have been around over two years. Are there no newer speaker models available on the PC gaming front? If so, give me some info and models...

Does Creative have an X-Fi successor coming out soon?

I'll get an X-Fi to replace my Audigy 2 when they release a PCI-E version and include DD encoding support so I can send everything, games, movies, etc. through the same digital connection to my DD decoding receiver.

One, no layoffs have occured or even been announced. Some news sources published rumors as facts and two months later there still haven't been any actions to back up the "news". Two, selling their XScale business (ONE business) hardly qualifies as a "fire sale on most of their businesses"...

Damn. Now I'm wondering if I should wait until the 3.2Ghz to build. Yeah, yeah, there's always something faster 6 months or less down the line. Sometimes the speed of hardware advancement is annoying. ;)
