NVRAID + 2 ata controllers

hmm.. well it seems windows detects the card fine still, probably bios just doesnt load up too many screens. hopefully once i reinstall onto the stripe it all works out! btw, i tried switching the cards. it was raidcard1 slot1 raidcard2 slot3 switched to raidcard2 slot1 raidcard1 slot2...

NVRAID + 2 ata controllers

i have an a8n-sli with 2 highpoint raid cards in my system, which detected fine in the bios. on a normal bootup it would show bios, raid card1 bios, raid card 2 bios, boot. now i've enabled nvraid, which has it's own raid bios thing, but now has disabled my second card from loading. edit...

2x1gb G.Skill Extreme DDR500 $199

hm... these vs g.skill 2-3-2-5 pc3200 those are approx $10 more, but if u loosen the timings to 3-4-4-8 it'll still easily do DDR500 so, will THESE do 2-3-2-5 at DDR400? edit: ok nm, checked some review and it could only goto 2.5-3-3-8 at 200mhz, i dunno if that's worth $10. depends on...

weird issues with quake4

weird issues with quake4

er sorry, i meant 250x10 edited. the problem isn't really that it's lower. it's the fact that i get some massive slowdown in quake4, which seems to be reflected in the aquamark score, whereas he says his is completely smooth during the whole demo in quake4.

A8N-SLI corruption (SATA only?)

it seems there are a lot of threads on nforce4 corruption with people's RAIDs. I can't seem to find whether if it's only SATA specific, as I'm planning on creating a RAID1 array with my seagate ATA100 drives. Anyone that's been on top of this have any ideas? Thanks

athlon x2 win2k or xp?

yea, on computers that i install xp onto, i usually disable every service i dont use (same with win2k). winxp seems a little more finnicky with disabling stuff, but i just gotta be more careful. hm.. i dunno, i'm just thinking more "why change if its basically the same"... hmmm

athlon x2 win2k or xp?

I've always been a win2k guy myself, but does XP (SP1a, I'm NOT going SP2) offer any "enhancements" for a X2 3800+? Hyperthreading was supposed to be better on XP, but since now it's like 2 real CPU's would there be a performance difference in XP vs 2k? The only advantage I can think of is XP...
