Just sell the 670, and put the money towards the 970. That's what I did recently.

So I have waited this long, a little more, or go with what I had in mind?

Im in the same boat as you. This weekend I'm ordering a x5650 or x5660(all they have close bye), and 12gb kit of ddr3 because I only got 6gb. My MSI GTX 970 will be here Thursday:) I see you have 8gb of ram. You should have your ram running triple channel for better performance.

I have sent an Asus board back for bent/crushed socket pins. lol I had to pay $40, but got a brand new board. Just message them.

Gtx 670 FTW bios 1.21v

i haven't really been following the 7970 or 7950 since buying my 670. I thought i said the 670 owns the 7950, not 680 owns 7970 , because even i know that when 680, and 7970 are OC'd they are very close. lol I'm not going to look up benches or anything, but the 670 performs quite close to...

I'm thinking the same as you about how the extra volts that are seen with a multimeter are added to the 1.21v that comes with the new bios. The voltages being close to being maxed out is still unknown. Soon time for drivers from Nvidia.

I was following a thread where a guy was getting ready to volt mod his Asus Top 680. He did a multimeter check on his voltage before modding, and it showed that it went to 1.2v. Maybe the increase in the voltage that we get from modding our bios adds to the 1.2v that was already there, making it...

It's strange that before using the "modded" bios that my max oc when looping heaven was 1276mhz. I figure if my card was already reaching 1.21v it would have been stable at 1310Mhz like it is now, and not 1276mhz like it was. I don't know maybe I missed some math classes, but not that many...

I just wanted to get over 1300Mhz. My new boost beats my old max OC. The only game I play is BF3,a nd I probably could run it on my original bios, and out perform the 7950. Had to say it, because kepler owns BF3. I let my temps get up to 72c, and they didn't throttle. My ambients are close to...

Theres a few people that pop in and out of different threads about the 1.21v mod. You swear they work for nvidia. In regards to this thread, the info is on enthusiast forums, and people there should no what the risks are, but if they don't people tell them, plus they are warned before flashing.

Having a good chip gets a better OC, and upping volts by one notch is nothing. Why are people getting so upset that others are doing this? Mod works great here.

New Bios for 1.21 V for ref Gtx 680s

Works like a charm My original stock boost is 1202mhz, and my new stock boost speed is 1293mhz. The 1293Mhz is higher than my highest overclock on the core(1286mhz), temps went up 2-3 degrees tops. The voltage still behaves the same accept it doesn't use 1.175.
