and of course I wasn't talking about the 64MB version but the 128...
64 is still an awesom card with all DV capabilities but it is clocked down...
ATI redesigned 128 - when 64 was released they never accepted officially that it was a real 8500 (called it 8500 R200) more info @ anandtech article...
here's the research :
- this card is powered by a radeon8500 clocked at 275/275
- reaches the performance of Geforce4 4200, and sometimes even outperforms it...
- is overclockable
- extra features such as DV (no firewire compared to 64 version) and TV are there...
- new, very good drivers give...

plus I said "Spartian"... I need no EXTRA buttons, just a plain keyboard and that's the reason I don't like their "media keyboard"

Can Highpoint boot a single HD just as a plain controller? I think most raid cards are able...

the bad thing is that it uses 2 ata100 drives... (maxtors 20gig)

Iwill did the same thing with their MB's. They have a good support under Linux...
Promise (If I'm not wrong correct plz!) never did that and I had problems setting up a system.
The similar Promise model sells for $98 at Newegg

they are usually difficult to set up in linux RH7.2 and other distros.
but if you managed to set up one, I definitely need to talk to you...:)
