    [Retired] The LCD Thread

Hey, I'm glad to see the thread still going despite my hiatus! I still look here but have been busier than ever with college. I'm definitely a little behind on LCD innovations. But next time I'm in market for an LCD I'll have to catch up with things. :-)

Honestly the lack of the A-TW polarizer isn't going to change things that much besides the viewing angle and darkness of black. The IPS panel is still excellent at distinguishing tones and staying true to the gamma curve. The A-TW polarizer is a mere extra. While people may frown on the WUXI2...

You could get two of these: http://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX24.../dp/B001O9EUSO I usually don't like ViewSonic but what choice do you have at this price? They are probably OK. They are only 1920x1080 (true HD) resolution. As I say don't expect quality at this price. It's too cheap for...

I would not really bother waiting! The Dell 2209WA is a great deal as it is. Are you sure you want 1920x1080 resolution at 22"? That's pretty small text...

But, the T260's response time is pretty slow and its color setup is fairly sloppy. (Probably similar for the T260HD) http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/monitors/display/samsung-topaz_10.html#sect0 I would go for the ASUS and get a PCI tuner if you want to watch TV. That gives you...

Yea....the LCD market is based off of speculation now, without any actual data.... Where are the reviews? I got tired of sifting through TNs when all of them are great for gaming and at the rate they come out and disappear there are few reviews of them. I'm starting to think the best way to...

Yeah....... sorry. It does not help that the LCD market is so volatile. I'm going to try to find models available in the US to post up. Many of the reviews are foreign or only concern foreign monitors, which makes it very difficult to find US equivalents. Sometimes it is guesswork. If I...

I'm not familiar with the U2410's settings, but probably only sRGB is close to the sRGB space. The rest are variations closer to Adobe RGB 1998 maybe with different color temperatures in them. The profiles let the host OS (probably Windows) know what kind of color space the monitor has (which...

Hey there -- I'm glad there has been lots of active discussion since I've had my "hiatus". Yeah...I don't think I'll be nearly as active. Just not much is going on in the LCD/flat panel world, but when something big does, I'll be the first to discuss it. Especially OLEDs... Wide gamut is...

The NEC LCD2490 as Zebo has said is the best choice but if you absolutely cannot afford this then maybe the HP LP2475w if you can do color management with those programs. It is actually not so bad, as I was enlightened to by a forum member here. You pretty much won't be able to tell.

Sorry guys, I'm still here and I'm reading your posts, but I've been busy with finals. I'll get back to you when I can, probably when I'm done with all these damn finals. This is merely a hobby...

Very doubtful. The Eye One 2 is perfectly fine and will calibrate already to 3-10x what your eye can differentiate, anyway. Besides, they use the same hardware, at least according to some info I found on the net.

Wow. Amazing photos.... Thanks... :) Sprechst du Deutsch? Bist du aus Deutschland? Ich hatte eine Klasse in Desutch fuer zwei Jahre. A slight link fix there.... ViewSonic is coming out with IPS 23" and 26", unfortunately they do cost an arm and a leg...

Something tells me there will be no rev to fix the uniformity issues. Dell can not fix that themselves, LG needs to fix their panel. Try an ASUS TN panel as recommended in the OP. I should be recommending the ASUS panels for office work as well as gaming, however I guess this was an...
