Serious Question: Why are people upgrading to G80?

I'm puzzled as to how there could be any doubt. I game at 1920x1200, AA would be nice but I don't use it at the moment and won't necessarily need it, but the fact is I need as much GPU as I can get to play Gothic3 smoothly. Why would I go for an older-gen card when I can get the 8800GTS and get...

HORRENDOUS encoding results with Conroe

If it's only using 11% CPU then THAT is your problem not I/O. Check BIOS to see if it's set to use that feature (can't recall name) that declocks the chip to save power.

Am I right in thinking this new card doesn't have many new key features over the Xplosion excepting the improved sound quality? If it isnt going to be much more I spose it'd be worth waiting for. I have Logitech Z5500's using optical cable from onboard sound atm.

Intel and Conroe are no match for what AMD has planned!

after a cusory read of this article I can't really see how well this tech will filter into mainstream desktop systems, but the implications for server efficiency are awesome. our workplace is transitioning to blades now having done a move to virtualised Win2k3 servers and SAN a few years ago...

Bluetooth V2.0 Compatible 100 meter Dongle $6.99 shipped

hmmm i got this one too but the included CD is screwed :( I wasn't sure what software to get so I tried this BlueSoeil 1.6.. seemed to work okay but I'd rather use the MS bluetooth stack :( Also it doesn't work with Nokia PC Suite. Anyone know how to get it to work?

Dell 2407FPW

2407 has just gone on sale here in .au today for $AUD1599.00 specs lead me to believe the panel is a different model than I'd originally thought, unless Dell are not giving correct specs because: - 6ms GtG, 16ms TrTf (or back-to-white as they use) - 450cd/m^2 (vs. the 500 on the 2405)...

Firewire and PCI devices disappeared from my A8N-SLI!

even in my wasted state i wouldnt have skipped that :) yes it is enabled.. i even tried disabling it, rebooting, enablnig it again as if i could somehow coax it back to life, no cigar. there is more however! i can't beleive i didn't notice this before but along with firewire I also don't...

Zalman says NB47J Northbridge cooler fits A8N-SLI

reading through all theses posts I feel safe to think that I should be fine to replace my stock NB HSF with NB47J. I'm just a bit reluctant because of my overclock.. should I be okay? If I do put the NB47J on I don't want to add a fan.. the whole reason it interests me is to have one less fan :)
