I've used all three before and I'm currently using VSCode.
Spyder is good for analytics work since it shows you all your variables and values on the right pane, like MATLAB and RStudio.
VSCode/Pycharm is better for software dev.
Macs seem ubiquitous amongst software engineers at most tech companies I've seen. It's often considered the best Linux distro. But now with WSL providing native Linux access within Windows, I can get a great developer environment with my custom built GPU workstation. However, I feel like a...
I've seen the video of Adam Savage with Kenji Alt-Lopez searing steaks that way. Is this different than the massive flare up flame sear? I find that the massive flare up sear gets me singed spots with parts that are underseared. It's not an even golden crisp sear (like what you see with Guga...
How do you get perfect steaks every time? I've had a hard time getting a perfect steak with sous vide than other methods.
This is because searing brings the temp of the steak up. So in order to compensate for it, you need to sous vide your steak below the target doneness, but that takes...
Very interesting. But Airbnb actually has monthly rates for people who book for 30 days + on select properties that offer it as an option.
Example: here I set the booking duration for 2 months and the prices come up as monthly. Boston · Stays · Airbnb
So I'm living at this Airbnb for 4 months and the WIFI here is quite slow at 10mbps. I often work from home and need to download large files and this is a hindrance. A few ways I can think of to speed it up.
1. Each WIFI connection is capped at 10mbps. I have two WIFI adapters, can I aggregate...
So I'm writing a class that contains a couple of methods that need to be run in succession. Some of the earlier methods are computationally expensive and can take 5+ minutes to run.
If I want to test code in the later methods, I need to re-instantiate the object with the modified code, then...
Thank you. Perhaps I can try running memtest and prime95 to be sure.
Are there any GPU torture tests as well? This just never really happened while I was in the office.
It is indeed a custom built PC. It's an office workstation but I've installed a few games on it to briefly demo the graphics.
While using Remote Desktop, it'll suddenly disconnect. Upon trying to reconnect, it'll make it until the Securing Remote Connection step and get stuck there for a few minutes and time out. I also have TeamViewer installed and the computer drops from the online computers list when this happens...
Here's a video
In the entire video, I'm constantly moving the cursor in a small circle. You could see that it straight up freezes for several seconds at certain points. When I drag a window at the 24s mark, there's no stuttering at all.
Not sure where to ask this, but often my mouse gets visually laggy. I know it's just visual because I can drag a window around and it'll be as smooth as silk. But just moving the mouse cursor would have it stutter sporadically. When I reboot, the cursor is fine again. I'm using a Samsung 55" 4K...
I just tried hooking the PC up to the fiber router and forwarded the ports there and everything is working. I can access the FTP and the RDP.
I will need to do some additional configuration to change the fiber router to a passive switch. Thanks for the resource to Jack's blog.
