Why can't matter reach the speed of light?

---------------- In that case, could it be that things can exceed the speed of light, but we just can't observe them because they're traveling faster than light? ---------------- Why would this be so ? After all, we can hear things that travel faster than sound.

What IS time?

To understand the interconnectedness of time, space, mass and energy, think about a space-ship trying to attain light speed (c). For it to get to c, it's gunna need lots of power. To generate that power it needs more energy - energy derived from mass. I'd imagine that to generate the energy...

What IS time?

Time is as much an entity as space. After all, what is space ? Neither can exist without the other - they are part of the same phenomonen : - dimensionality. No time - no space. Every point in time is unique. The fact that can't always be detected by the eye creates the illusion of it...

Will RAM ever replace the hard drive?

Yes, IBM are working on holographic storage amongst other things. The latest storage medium being researched is tomato soup ... yeah ! ;)

Boot options -- Missing original WIN2k install

When you installed 2K on the other drive, did you disable the existing drive in BIOS ? That's the only way to make both independently bootable - otherwise, NTLoader has issues. Try another boot manager, like bootmanager, grub or LILO.

It's a memory thing. Usually running timings way out of spec. Jibberish gets written back to Windows and bingo, your registry's fubbared. Anyone o/c'ing should image their OS with Ghost 2003 or similar for easy restoration - as you inevitably need to hit the reset button when ascertaining max...

future incarnation of the PC

I think it'll be a LOOOONG time before we see thought-controlled PC's. Why ? Because the impluses required to MOVE an eyeball, leg, finger, etc occur along specific nerves - whereas thoughts occur in the prefrontal cortex. But I do believe we'll be wearing PC's before long - and...

Do you think time travel will ever be possible?

I agree - time travel into "the future" is possible, by going on a trip in a near-light-speed capable ship and returning to Earth - whence hundreds of years have passed while you haven't really aged. But you'd be stuck there - unable to return to "the past". So in reality, all you'd have done...
