Would there be an advantage to adding a firewire network connection over an ethernet one?

You know, Gigabit ethernet cards can be had for around $50 for copper GigE. That's not a bad price, and probably wouldn't be that much over what the firewire connection would cost you. Then you can just run a crossover cable between the two PCs and get the whole pipe for transfers. Z.

SX1030 owners look here(as well as others)

Ethereal is also available as a Win32 program - I use it on my laptop for demonstration and portable network testing. Highly recommended as a freeware program, but remember to have a decent processor and a good chunk of RAM to play with (My rig is a 700 with 256 MB running Win2k). If you can...

SCSI cable for HP c1529 Tape backup help!

You should be able to go with just about any 2940 - they're all capable of the speeds a tape drive that age reaches. It all boils down to buying a 50 pin HD or 68 pin (UW) to 50 pin low density cable. That'll cost as much as a used 2940. :-p If you're willing to buy used, 2940's go for $20-$30...

It's not actually a matter of matching the cable - you can get SCSI cables with the correct ends on them for most conversions. Your main issues with using the RAID card are dependent on how the channels on the card are set up (ie: if your backup drive, which runs a slower SCSI than the drives is...
