I've decided on DDR3 for future compatibility. I don't upgrade my PC very often (I'm still running an Athlon XP 2600+ on an Asus A7V333) and want to try to minimize any components that I won't be able to use the next time around. I already have to buy literally EVERYTHING (motherboard, CPU, SATA...
Any ideas when we'll see the delayed 45nm CPU's and associated X48 chip set?
I'm getting ready to build a new system and am wondering if I should go with X38 or wait for X48.
Thanks for the info, guys. I've pretty much decided to go with DDR3 so at least my memory will be re-usable with my next upgrade. The basic question is still: am I better off with 2 lower-speed DIMMs or 1 faster DIMM?
I am planning on getting a Wolfdale (E8500). Plus, I didn't know that there was a new socket coming that soon. I can't wait that long to build a new system so I've got to do something. I'm leaning towards waiting for the x48.
I'm going to be building a new PC based around the Asus P5E3 Deluxe (x38) or possibly holding out for the P5E3 Premium (x48). Would I be better off with a single stick of faster DDR3 memory (DDR3 PC3-12800 ? 8-8-8-24) or dual sticks of slower memory (DDR3 PC3-8500 ? CL=7)?
I seem to recall...
Thanks krnmastersgt. I had found that one last week. I was surprised that the price diff between WiFi and non-WiFi was so small. I would have thought that no WiFi and no embedded Linux would have cut a bit more off the cost.
Now I just have to decide if I should pull the trigger or wait for...
I can't seem to find any online vendors selling the non-WiFi version of the Asus P5E3 Deluxe. It shows up on the Asus site but I can only seem to find the more expensive WiFi edition.
Thanks...Scott
Not sure if everyone who goes gets one, but when I went to this last year I got a coupon a couple of months later for $1000 off a new GM vehicle (excluding Corvette and XLR).
Can someone explain to me the benefit of dual DVI connectors? Can you extend your desktop onto 2 monitors with a dual DVI card or is it just putting out the same signal on both connectors? If it's the same signal, then what the heck is the big deal about dual DVI? What benefit does it give you...
