62C safe for AMD 1600XP? Also, slow startup.

normal for case to be hotter than CPU?

funny ..... the best way to determine the culprit is to open your case side cover and see what happens. the case temperature has GOT to go lower than the CPU that way If not, you probably just have a case of bad/switched probe sensors. What are your temperatures??

My hard drive noise is driving me NUTS!

hi, you do realize that this may cause the fan to spin louder. if this is okay with you, that's fine, but many people, including myself try to get their PSU to spin quieter (and slower). do you have any case fans exhausting air from the rear of the case, ..i'd take a guess that these are more...

Best HS and Fan combo right now under $40? As in terms of best performance/noise.

thanks, ... exactly the info i needed, ... i think i will buy a lower end OEM ATI card from a reputable vendor (newegg maybe). if the TV-out quality on AVIs/ SVDs is acceptable and comparable to the 9000 I currently have in the HTPC, I'll keep the OEM card. Else, I'll just go shell out a few...

Hi, on a previous post, ... I asked about opinions on video cards for building a home theater PC. Well the PC is now up and running hooked up to my TV. I currently have it running with a friend's (built by ATI) radeon 9000 and the DVD / AVI quality is really quite nice through the S-video...

cheap card with GOOD TV-out for HT PC

cool stuff, ... i don't need this rig for gaming or encoding DVDs, ...that's what my main PC (probably an XP2100+ or an XP2500+, will decide when I get my motherboard in a couple of days) is for, ...seems like a mid-range RADEON or AIW is the way to go. Thanks all

cheap card with GOOD TV-out for HT PC

Hi, ... when I upgrade in the next week, I will have 256MB PC2100 RAM, an extra DVD-ROM and a 1GHz athlon-C with a GC-68 heatsink left over. I'm thinking of plopping these into a cheap case with maybe a budget ECS motherboard and a 40GB drive ( i have a spare) to make up a Hometheater PC (HTPC)...
