Games for a 5 year old?

I totally agree with the suggestion of Lego Star Wars II. Lego Star Wars 1 would be ok too. imho, the Lego games are the best little kid games available. I have a 7 and 5 year old and that's what they started out on the version for the gamecube (and now play it on the Wii). Easy controls...

What's the best way to use my 360 as an extender?

Streamed to the Xbox360, AVIs work great. I do it all the time. In fact, I'd say that it has changed my tv watching. Now with Netflix support coming this week for the 360, it's media capabilities are awesome.

My Inspiron 8600 has a power connector that doesn't "click" together in any way. The cord easily slides in and out - the result is that it can't be a point of failure. Any tension simply pulls the power cord out of the back of the laptop. Nice design

Like Jack said, for 4 computers it isn't worth it. It's faster/easier to do a "manual" install. That being said, there are a few sites around with quite a bit of information about creating CDs to do unattended installs. Ie, you pre-configure everything ahead of time (even adding 3rd party...

Wireless network..

Don't get the netgear wgt624. I have/had one. It's crap. I needs to be power-cycled every day or so because it hangs. Get a linksys wrt54g instead.

I swear... IPCop is one difficult motherf

I'm not sure what's tough about IPCop, I've found it to be great. IPcop IS Linux with IPTables. Eesh. Go to the IPCop website www.ipcop.org and choose Support then post a question to the IPCop mailing list. Someone should be able to help you. btw, 2.4ghz P4 is overkill for an IPCop...

Need opinion on setting Win2000 network

I administrate the network for the school that our church runs (preschool - 8th grade). It's a win2000 network with about 45 client machines. I have a cable modem attached to a linux box running IPcop www.ipcop.org which is then attached to one of our switches. IPcop is a firewall-only linux...

huh, I have a WGT624 in my office at work and it's worked fine. I have a D-Link DI624 here at home and that has worked without issue as well.

Got it working :)

uh, doesn't seem to make much sense. Plug 'em all into a switch in some way so they're on the lan and allow or restrict logon via permissions.

cat5 isn't spec'd for that distance. You'd have to run fiber.
