need help choosing a CPU

Rendering pictures from what program? Is this for work or play? You may want to consider building a workstation with two quadcore xeons and 16gb of RAM.

Trying to decide... Raid 0 setup

I've got four WD6400AAKS drives coming in. I was originally planning to setup two RAID 0s with two discs each (video editing setup), but am wondering if I should set up a single 4 disc RAID 0 instead. Pros/Cons? Thanks.

8 Cores, What's the advantage?

How much RAM you got? I'm not sure about Premiere, but Adobe recommends 1.6GB of RAM per core for AE CS3. So rounding up to 2GB per core, you should have 16GB.

Quad socket mobo for Intel chips?

Q6600 with WinXP

I am so confused! Q6600 + what mobo + what ram!

I'm in the same boat as you. I will likely go with the Asus P5E board with the x38 NB. I haven't decided on RAM. I was planning to go with 4GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800, since lots of guys overclocking the Q6600 well past 3.0GHz with 800MHz RAM at 1:1. If I'm not mistaken, DDR2-800...

Q6600 OC vs Q9450 OC

I hear there will be a big price drop around the 20th of this month. The Q6700 is supposed to drop to under $300, which is the one I'd get since it has the 10X multiplier. I've read that some rendering programs can make full use of 8 cores, so you may want to look into getting a dual socket...

Possible to add a drive to a 0 array?

Even if it were possible (I don't think it is), you would see zero speed increase with any existing data on the first two drives, including your OS.

Thanks folks. I would even prefer wireless-G over wired, as long as it's reliable. I've read a lot of complaints on Newegg about wireless connections dropping out on Asus mobos with built in wifi. However, I can only take those reviews with a grain of salt and am more interested in hearing...
