Getting HZTool 1.4 to work with Det. XP?

Is there any way to get HZTool to work with Det XP? I have been using powerstrip but that seems like an awfully bloated program just for setting refresh rates. Thanks

LVD is a different method of singaling (uses two lines/signal instead of one). LVD is required for both Ultra 2 Wide (U2W) and Ultra 160 (U160) SCSI modes. Much like UDMA-66 or UDMA-100, any LVD device can fall back to SCSI II or Ultra SCSI(UW) modes if the controller does not support LVD...

Isn't the MAC address just the address of the adapter the modem is connected to? If so just open up winipcfg and get the Adapter address.

Worst Video Card You Have Owned?

I dunno. Virge was impressive when it first came out in 95-96 (Bilinear filtering Descent). The worst card I have ever owned was an onboard Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428 1MB. Next worst was 2MB Trident 9440.

Damn man...I must say mine was an Pentium Overdrive 83Mhz - wasn't too bad, but disappointing for the $300 that I paid. Could have been my ISA video card though:)

Gateway LX mobo/CPU question...

433 is the highest slot 1 Celeron. Its probably an Intel AL440LX motherboard, so you can flash it with the latest BIOS and have it recognize the 433 at bootup. Up to 566 should work with slotkey, but I haven't tried.

GeForce 2 GTS/Memory problem

Actually, Ive seen Win2K run w/ 64MB on a laptop. It wasn't pretty, but it can be done:)

Except that I reformatted about 3 times trying to get rid of the problem:) So I'm pretty sure its an nVidia problem. BTW, I got it set up on dual boot and no problems in Win9x. However, Windows 98 breaks too much for my likings (I moved my RAID card 1 slot and 98 won't start up anymore). Just...

Well..yeah you could use a new video card, but I wouldn't recommend a GeForce 2MX - go for a GTS or Radeon DDR. After all, you have a TNT2U right now and a GeForce 2MX is barely an upgrade (I know specs look better, but memory bandwidth is actually lower 175 vs. 183 if I remember correctly). A...

GeForce 2 GTS/Memory problem

Well..I had the same problem going from the Matrox G400 (which supports up to 2048^2 textures and 32bit) so I don't think large texture support or 32bit rendering is a problem. There is definitely an issue with nVidia's 2K drivers using more memory than other cards, but it might just be a time...

Good pci card for a pII 300?

Yeah Voodoo 3 is great for older PCI systems. Even Voodoo II is pretty good for about 35 bucks. Radeon will be very CPU limited - plus you will have some trouble finding a PCI model (dunno if they even have em yet).

Random PC speaker beeping in Windows 98

This is a weird problem and I'm not sure where this goes...but I'm getting some random PC speaker beeping in Windows 98. Its a very short single beep that occurs every 20 minutes or so (usually in IE). I checked my temperatures and they were not high enough to trigger the temperature warning...

ELSA Gloria II vs Matrox G400 (for my situation!)

Actually from what I've heard the Permedia 3 might be worth looking into if you do lots of 2D work. Something about using virtual texturing to store photoshop in video memory.... But if you already have a G400, just keep it.

Well, if your board supports 133MHZ FSB, it should support all the PIIIs (seeing that you already have a CuMine there). I wouldn't worry about multiplier since it is locked. Realistically, the worst thing that could happen is the CPU speed not showing up correctly at boot - but even then it...
