Hmm, I wonder if there's anything about poor Ariel Young that would mark her as "lesser" in the eyes of Republican justice [besides her parents' income?] Irony, since the Chiefs star quarterback has similar parentage.

Meanwhile, the family can't even talk about her current condition without their lawyer present, lest they say something that lets the Chiefs pull funding for her medical care:

Details about Ariel's condition remain limited because of a legal agreement with the Chiefs, who have worked out a payment plan for her medical care.

Well, ummm....

Meanwhile ....

Jackson County Prosecutor: Parson did not contact Ariel Young's family ...

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said Gov. Mike Parson did not contact her office or the family of Ariel Young before commuting the sentence of former Chiefs coach Britt Reid.Reid was ...

Protocol? Who needs protocol?

It's weird, why is he protecting someone from the "rolls over for black people" NFL? Racism is so confusing.

In response to the commutation, Tom Porto, an attorney for the victims of the crash, said in a statement to ABC News: "What's different between this criminal defendant and every other criminal defendant in the state of Missouri?"

Hmmmm. I just can't put my finger on it.

Just so I understand this guy only got 3 years and didn't serve them all meanwhile Crystal Mason got 5 years in prison for casting 1 provisional ballot and is still trying to get her sentence commuted.

Guess I'll wait for the apologists and deniers for systemic racism to explain.

Why does the guy on the right look like the Senator from Pennsylvania?

Honestly (and I get that this doesn’t reflect well on me) but if I was on a jury and a defendant was wearing that suit it would be an automatic guilty verdict from me.

I'm not a suit guy but that thing even caught my eye as especially awful.

The dilemma as I see it is that vast periods of human history injustice was committed by groups of fearful people against some one or some smaller group within the larger society that could be targeted as adequate to project the hatred that fear produced in them outwardly on as a means of revenge for the unconscious factors that induced that fear in them in the first place. Self hate, in order to deflect awareness of that self hate inwardly, targets something or someone who can't mount a more intimidating counter-threat if attacked.

After centuries of minority groups aware of the threat posed to them by the ever present threat of an outbreak of mass psychosis generated by cults of self haters needing such outlet, we , they managed to scrabble together a justice system founded on liberal principles that made it difficult to convict people of real crimes much less hysterically imagined ones like those arising our of outbreaks of mass psychosis. We say we presume people to be innocent until proven guilty, and for some time now in our country that was the rule of law that held sway. Today, however, owing to the internet, the crazies are active again and have successfully penetrated our political system, justice system, and judicial system to make the presumption of innocence go away. The desire to be able to express the deranged phenomenon of projected self hate is breaking our liberal system threatening to return us to the Dark Ages.

All of this is the result of feelings of American exceptionalism, the result of our capitalist system making people exceptionally sick, held by resentful disrespected and neglected ignored for people who feel nothing in life but that they have gotten the shaft. They imagine things were better in the past in a time they imagine they were getting the big piece of the pie.

This is the result of the unfulfilled political promises if you vote for so and so promised but which never arrived. It doesn't take much insight to know that people never blame themselves or that the 'takers' in society are projecting their desire to take on others even worse off.

The idiots in this country need to ask themselves who benefits when they do not. Is it in the interest of corporations to pay works high or poverty wages. Who loses when unemployment ceases to exist, corporations that want cheep labor? Who wins by promising to eliminate waste but never comes through. Surely it's the people who sucker the stupid with promises they never intend to deliver. Who makes money when regulations and labor laws don't exist. But it's the nature of self hate to self destruct just to prove the people who put them down were right. Misery doesn't just love company. It insists on it.

Yes, he's white, white privilege.

At least Coach Andy Reid has been successful with Black QBs (McNabb, Vince Young, Michael Vick, Patrick Mahomes)

Agree with you first of all, but is the ginger actually the ex NFL coach of KC? He looks like he wouldn't be old enough to buy alcohol.

I thought the current programming for the St Petersburg bots say no such thing as white privilege?

Careful, your host may schedule an update.

Whether it's because of the white or the green, it's still wrong.

It'd be cool if a bunch of minorities that got pinched for DUIs pushed for commutations. Once (inevitably) denied, they just might be able to make a discrimination case.

Anyone notice he has priors? Article mentions that he "pleaded guilty to simple assault and flashing a gun at another driver in a road rage incident in 2007." Drew a gun during a road rage incident. Hmm. And: While in prison, 'he also pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance from a separate incident.' Seems to me that he needed the jail time, both for his own good and everyone else's.

As with so many things in GOP land, Trump set this trend for using pardon power in a corrupt manner. He normalized it.
