OK, so that seems like an I/O issue. My i7-4770 work system has a Samsung 860 EVO SSD and it can badly freeze sometimes in Edge browser. Doesn't happen in Firefox or Chrome. I'm guessing Edge does some heavy I/O for some reason which exposes a weakness in the 860 EVO's I/O handling capability. I definitely do not trust Samsung for anything important. I'm only using it coz I kinda "stole" it (was meant for some other user but he didn't care or bother asking about it so I just put it in my work PC and started using it).

Definitely get a cheap 256GB SSD from Crucial, Kingston, Silicon Power or WD for testing. Install Windows on it and the few games you regularly play and see if the stuttering goes away.

Thanks for all your help everyone I really appreciate It, I've ordered a new WD drive to try. I'm going to play about with PBO today to see if that will help also. What do you recommend I should set the PBO to?

I set mine to ECO mode with the full 200MHz extra boost. It was a solid overclock. If your CPU isn't stable in that config back off until it is.

I will give that a try, Shall I leave CPU voltage on auto?

Yes, I only needed to select ECO mode and +200MHz boost. Plus XMP for the ram of course.

Hi guys. Just a quick update I've manually set my CPU to 4.4GHZ with 1.15v and it seems to be better with my FPS issue I done a OCCT stress test for 8 hours and all seems stable and max cpu temps of 62 degrees

Don't use the default motherboard settings which will be too high. Not sure what AMD default pbo settings are but something more conservative is a decent starting point PPT = 120, TDC = 75 and EDC = 110 from this thread will keep temps down without a big performance loss. I also tinkered with the curve optimizer but don't have the energy to test extensively so I left it at -15 all cores which should be ok for b2 stepping chip, also disabled extra boost. I prefer pbo and curve optimizer to manually set clocks/voltages.

Have you check the WHEA errors in the windows event viewer? Hwinfo can also give a count of WHEA errors. Useful to check ram/gpu errors.
Even gpu driver errors can seem to cause lag problems and might log a WHEA error. I rolled back to an older version and things were fine.
