What was the name of the GIS system that the feds developed back in the late eighties/early nineties? It was super primitive but it was free to the public.

ArcObjects all the way, baby. If a class called ITopologicalOperator7 is wrong, I don't want to be right!

I finally saw a car with a Montana license plate for the first time in NYC yesterday.

Think I've only got Alaska, Hawaii, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Wyoming left to see here.

Personal quest.. see all 50 state License Plates on a car that's not mine in New York State!

Was it chewed in the middle or something?
Nope, looks pristine. I hardly touch it. I know Nvidia cards have ground loop issues with audio devices, maybe my 1080Ti is really misbehaving and the cable couldn't handle it? I'm at a loss. When the stove clicked on and the TV went out, there were no voltage spikes that I could measure. Something about that cable was sending power down into the receiver from what I can tell.

Most of that is mine lol
I think I heard a saying long ago: "Having a desire fulfilled is actually unfortunate, for when you finally have what you seek, you move on to the next desire".

This is what the majority of Steam users have been doing with their games. I just bought the TR 1-3 Remastered bundle couple days ago on sale. No idea if I will ever get to play it!

I always buy cheap games & bundles on Steam every Thanksgiving, but then my brain gets fried from work & I don't have enough dopamine to play when I get home lol.

Just took an online proctored exam for Permit Technician on some garbage program called ProctorU. Had to install the Guardian browser (see First World thread for issues). Anyways, passed the exam and all good. I figured, if I'm requiring my staff to take and pass the exam, I might as well take it and have it under my belt as well. You know, the whole lead by example thing...

Needed a quart of Drylok waterproofing paint. Big Box stores only had gallons at over $30 each. Quart should have been around $12 from what I saw on websites.

As I was leaving the paint area, I noticed a gallon of what I wanted on the mis-tint table, tinted a light/sky blue. Fine for the job I had in mind. It's even a higher grade of the paint, a more durable version, so higher priced per gallon normally.

$15 for the gallon mistinted to a color I could use.

My work denied my request to WFH and said "It's WORK from home not take care of your wife post surgery from home even though that will only take like 1 hours a day" so I said ok and took the week off instead 🤷‍♂️

So I'm off 10 days starting tomorrow. PTO was maxed anyway...

So looks like muh vidya game backlog is going to get worked down and I'll finally have some blocks of time to commit some guitar tabs to memory...

Had the chemo port removed from my chest today.

Installed under my skin April of 21. it was a small plastic disk with a rubber top where needles were inserted and a tube going into a vein that traveled to the entrance of my heart to mix the toxins with a greater volume of blood so the veins in my arm wouldn't dissolve.

A while back my toilet fill valve broke, the lever that goes to the float broke, the plastic just got brittle. I probably could have fixed it but figured if the plastic is at that point then it's a matter of time until the internals start to go too so just replaced the whole thing.

After that the toilet kept filling slowly, but that's the flush valve, so figured that was also on it's way out but it was an odd coincidence. Ordered the part, and out of curiosity I was playing with it further and realized that the small tube that you insert into the overflow tube was actually causing water to siphon out from the bottom of the fill valve. So the whole time it was not the flush valve that was leaking it was literally water being siphoned into it! What an odd thing to happen. For my particular toilet that tube is not really needed so just took it out and let it hang inside the tank, it just adds water to the tank faster so actually works at my advantage. Cancelled the order for the flush valve.

That's the same shit that the ancient Greeks (old buggers) used on the Parthenon. But what really shocked people was something called "the tin can that the paint came in." Whatever that was, it was NOT amphora.

Before that, in order to get paint to stick on marble, they had to mix the pigment with melted bee wax and one or two other ingredients.

Of course the most puzzling fact was how they converted from drachma to USD before the US existed.
He achieved a new benchmark.
I think it would be more accurate to say that the benched "achieved" him. But what do I know.
