Oh, I could probably tell a "Southern Drawl" isn't Canadian...and maybe recognise a few other specific US accents (like Bernie's...or at least, Larry David's version of Bernie), but if I heard a random Canadian I'd struggle to hear it as anything other than 'generic American'.

I mean, there's surely a reason why so many "American" actors turn out to actually be Canadians?

I'm terrible with accents though - have been known to confuse Americans with Australians, and mistook an Estonian for a Dutchman....
The two biggest things that stand out to me are when they say "sore-y" versus "sawrry" and "oot" versus "owt". There are other fairly small things like that, but those are the first ones that come to mind.

Ohio is the home of “newscaster English”. Ontario and Vancouver are close. Some of the Abertatonians sound straight out of Australia.

The point of the story is not to feel bad for the dude because he lost a gig, it's about WHY he lost the gig. He lost it because the Canadian company he contracted with no longer wants to contract with Americans.

The only reason for this is because our stupid president and his lickspittle administration decided to pick fights with and threaten our closest neighbor and major trading partner for literally no reason. We have a trade agreement with Canada that Trump signed during his last administration and claimed was the bestest thing ever, an agreement only he could deliver, and he's wiping his ass with it to make himself feel like a real big boy.

So yay, Americans now have less opportunity for work and a shrinking marketplace and higher prices for absolutely nothing in return. And the all fucking r*tard conservatives here can come up with is, "Why should I feel sorry for him?" Fucking morons.

Morons is putting it nicely. They are evil little creatures who have consistently proved it over years. One can only hope they lose a large source of their income as soon as possible and fall on very hard times.

What do the two fascist defenders green man and PC geek want to happen to the Italians now

I don't want anything to "happen" to the Italians.

I think the person or group that is responsible should be held accountable for the damages, regardless of who the manufacturer of the cars is / was...

I guess you think it is fine to destroy someone else's properly and Livelihood?

Because Americans are totally shit at portraying intellectuals.

I miss Peter Jennings. Used to watch World News Tonight when I was younger with him at the helm. It was okay with Charlie Gibson too, but after that it went downhill.

If their livelihood is funding a fascist dictatorship, sure.

Lots of Americans are losing money and will be losing jobs. The tourism drop alone is going to cost tens of thousands of job loss. But our resident Nazi party members and defenders they don't give a fuck about you. Unless of course it's themselves. This is just a guaranteed characteristic of being a right winger in general in this country.

I mean big companies are going to cut jobs but think of so many small companies that this will affect. Here is an example of an entire product launch in Canada gone bye-bye. And all for zero goddamn good reason. That's also the crazy part. This is not part of some necessary pain. It's fucking obscene.

As ‘Buy Canadian’ grows, more US companies say retailers shunning their products - https://www.reuters.com/business/re...ilers-turning-away-their-products-2025-03-31/

An often understated result of a boycott is the Independence of former British colonies.

There was a time the British would say.. "The Sun never sets on the British Empire" but the colonies got smart and realized they were sending all their money to rulers by buying their goods.

Once they started boycotting them, the British Empire didn't even have money to afford to pay their troops to maintain their empire and just had to let the colonies go one by one.

Ultimately this may be the doom of the American overseas power.. which depends on military spending.. which comes from taxes of companies and individuals. You can't tax the companies if people don't want to buy their stuff and they don't have profits.

Surprisingly even if Trump backtracks his tariffs, I think the damage is done.. the Boycott American Goods movement is here to stay and needs massive recalculating by the economists.

And we Americans had the Boston Tea Party..

Makes perfect sense the MAGA states wouldn't even know about it, since the only history they remember is the slave history.

He's saying he lost work with a Canadian company because US accents are not popular now?

It's a surprise to me that Canadians and Americans can even tell each others' accents apart. Not sure I can.
Oh, I don't know abooooot that.
