I had one of those as a child. That's an apt description. By the time its shell was about 4" long, it was able to snap wooden spoons in half.

Like actual snapping turtles? I figured they'd taste terrible, even among turtles. My southern side of the family eats them.
They're a mix of Cajun and Choctaw and eat snapping turtles and alligators and pretty much anything else they can hunt or catch. I like alligator meat but don't know if I could eat snapping turtle.Like actual snapping turtles? I figured they'd taste terrible, even among turtles.
