Apparently we have bad crime that I haven't heard about. They want to be clear they aren't going to spy on the citizens because they don't have the staff for that. The first phase is installing cameras on roads in and out of town.
Um, the fact they are installing cameras and that they can track license plates is spying. And the fact that they can hire more people (or use AI) to monitor these cameras is dystopian. The police state is here.

They cost a premium over the usual stuff, sound cool.. look cool but are nowhere as reliable as air coolers.
Case in point.. 2 mechanical keyboards both went bad within 6 months.. the latest one bad out out of the box where key did not work.
But I've got membrane keyboards that still work from the late early 2000's with the USB 1.0 ports!
