Hopefully Pierre loses. Maxime Bernier, leader of PPC (further right than Conservative Party of Canada) lost. Jagmeet Singh of NDP (left of center) might lose as well.

If that were the case they would have informed themselves on policy instead of letting Trump live rent free in their heads and voted conservative, they are the ones that want to make Canada better and heal from the last 10 years. But people are too dumb and fell for carney's campaign of orange man bad. He has nothing else of value to bring to Canada.

This is unfortunately the result I expected so not that surprised, but was hoping people would be smarter and vote for less taxes, less crime, less immigration, more pipelines and resource projects and overall a better Canada. But instead we're going to continue to drive the country into the ground.

Good, go cry yourself to sleep, bitch. I hope life will suck for you, but I know it won't because the smart people in your country did you a solid and voted to protect you and everyone else against your worst, most evil fucking instincts. Your life will be just fine, but you'll still hate yourself for it and blame everyone else.

Still, we'll know that you'll be fine but we're also perfectly content that you'll still be miserable for it, which is good.

Go fuck yourself.

Yo genius, Donny shared an altered image of Abrego Garcias's tattoos to claim he is affiliated with MS-13. And Abrego Garcia has legal status to stay and work in USA.

The orange guy that lies all the time said a bunch of things that are false, again.
Even if Garcia was MS13, the government should have to prove it in court before it sends you off to prison. And that prison shouldn't be in some foreign country.

Deporting people without any process is bad, and it's even worse when it's basically rendition to a foreign concentration camp.

They stopped counting at 3 AM, will continue today at 9:30. I think only special ballots like mail in and advanced pool are not completed counted. Jagmeet Singh resigned as NDP leader since NDP lost party status.

Pierre is trailing by 4.5% while there is only 0.75% polls yet to report. He will stay on as party leader though since CPC increased seat counts.

42374 for Fanjoy Vs. 38581 for Poilievre with 2 polling station outstanding. Pierre has held that seat since 2004. The 91 condidates thing just prolonged the counting.

Worry that it looks suspiciously similar to Starmer's win here. Driven more by revulsion at the Right than enthusiasm for the centrists. Though with the weird twist that in the Canadian case it's the Right of another country that was the driving factor more than domestic right-wing incompetence. The opinion poll record is amazing - absolutely clear that it Was Trump "Wot Won It" for Carney.

For that reason am not hugely optimistic about the longer term outcome. Though obviously the Conservatives got what they deserved (probably a better result than they deserved).

Totally don't get how Northern Ontario flips from a left leaning party like NDP to Conservatives... Charlie Angus didn't seek reelection but still.

well, the only thing I know about Timmins and the fucking losers that live there, is they live in perpetual fear of phantom hypodermic needles on their streets and the daily terror that they might see a non-white person at some point in their lives. Perfectly primed mush brains to be exploited by conservative fascism.

Absolutely best part is that Pierre Poilievre (deeply unlikeable shit-weasel) Leader of the Maple MAGA, lost his own seat that he had held for 20 years (he basically went from school into politics, never having a real job in his life). One of my friends lived in that riding the whole time, and cursed that the Cons could run a pig in his riding and it would win. I got a very happy email from him this morning... 20 years of voting against the Shit-Weasel and finally...

Remember always get out and vote...

Think it's a case of people not critically thinking by voting tactically.

England gave a good example of how to vote tactically.

That is if the party you dislike is able to win and the party you like isn't able to, vote tactically to ensure that the Tories lose by voting for the candidate most likely to beat them.

Otherwise the first past the post system just screws you by diluting the vote share enough that the tories/ conservatives win by a plurality.

If that was the case they should have gone Liberal since it's centre right as opposed to Conservatives that is right wing. To go from left to right is kind of bonkers.

This probably belongs in the CT thread but do not be surprised that the Canada's anti-India government sentiment is pissing off some Indians with Canadian citizenship in the Greater Toronto area.

There's a big enough amount of them there.. enough to swing an election and they might be seeing Modi government assassinating Canadian citizens in Canada as making India great again!

I don't have the numbers with me.. so my hunch is it's either this or not voting tactically and diluting the vote share enough.

Otherwise I can't really think of a reason Ontario would swing from left to right

Ontario did just re-elect Doug Ford's provincial conservative party and federal conservatives picked up a few more seats in Ontario. This is as it stands in Ontario

Nutty Squirrel's riding, which is 80+% European decent went from NDP (left wing) to CPC (right wing).

Trump managed to flip the Canadian electorate in 100 days.

The dude has no guardrails this time around and there is no limit to the idiocy he can inflict. He’s only 7% into his second term and the dick shooting is just getting started!

I hate to be the guy who says this time is different, but this time is very very different.
