well its the only 2 I have yet to mess with, gonna start with the tone one first, and I have a matching one for it, not sure on the vol pot though, and may as well, the wiring is all there, and only things left are the pots/cap and I just had some really bad luck and took a dump on me as I was replacing the coils. Had cars, computers, and home theater equipment do that to me, replace a part, and then another decided to die for the heck with it as I was replacing a known broken part. Though I am still not sure how a tone pot would mute completely a string .

Center frequency of whatever LPF your messed up tone stack created being well below the fundamental frequency of the high E string is one way. That would be consistent with the rest sounding muffled.

well, ok then, later today I will be swapping it out and see, and if it works gonna feel like crap for I returned the other coils already for I thought they was what went bad and were junk.

The red and yellow are the coil wires one hot one ground. Ground goes to spring tensioner, to tone/vol pot, and switch, with the hot leads going to the ends of the switch, and again I stuck it right back to exactly how it was when I started, and all I did was remove the coil wires, I didn't touch any of the others till just now and changed the pot. There are a few stragglers off the coil wire for ground, but I made sure they don't touch anything at all in there.

That volume pot solder looks rough (no offense, I am a EE and can’t solder for shit either). Burnt wires and solder. Time to short the tone and volume stack with clips to first of all verify the problem and then probably end up changing that volume pot.

I was gonna say something about the soldering, but I have no room to talk either :^D Best thing I can say about my soldering, is it works. Usually... :^D

yeah that ground pot from the coils isnt the best, limited room, and its braided so it didnt take solder to well but it is snug. I did much better on the tone pot with the cap, it was easier to do since I had it out of the guitar to do it.

I've only changed pickups once and I swapped out the Jackson OEM pickups for EMG 81 and 85 ones.

They worked just fine..

Maybe you have a defective pickup??

Guess you missed the part where he swapped his original pickups back in?

Any reason you can just use spade connectors?
Suppose I could, but soldering is much better connection. I think I am just gonna give this one as a gift to a friend on his birthday to bash into pieces and get me the Ibanez when ever my switch sells.

If there's nothing else actually wrong with it, could always take it to a shop, would be cheaper than a replacement guitar. I was quoted $50 locally to swap a pair of coil split humbuckers. But if you just want that Ibanez, you know, go for it
I have an Ibanez Talman bass that's pretty decent.

I have had at least 5 Ibanez guitars, and quite like them. ONLY reason I got this was I been missing playing electric since I had to sell mine, and it was but $40 off marketplace, so really, to gut it for its parts, and giving it to my friend so he can pretend to be a rock god and get to smash it to bits-PRICELESS at this point.

If my switch sells I found a Ibanez local to me for $120, I just need to sell it to get it before someone else does :O

THANKS TO ALL WHO TRIED TO HELP! You would think it would stick out like a sore thumb considering I stuck back in the OEM KNOWN GOOD coils, back to where they were, and the fact I touched NOTHING else in the guitar that this is happening, it CRAZY, and I totally do not get it, the wiring isnt complicated, and so I am dumbfounded :/\o

I just wanted to deck it out and make it mine, for I stuck on it roller trees, roller saddles, about to put a adjustable nut on it, cool coils that were see thru so you could see all the copper, and ratings for them were great, some skull coil surrounds, and the black beauties. But nooooooooo my luck I got a problem that cant even be figured out, for it all doesnt make sense

For SHIZZLES, I still havent changed out the vol pot, so gonna throw that at it and see if it sticks, for its the ONLY thing left I have not changed out yet.
