MORAN: Even some people who voted for you are saying, 'I didn't sign up for this.' So how do you answer those concerns?

TRUMP: Well, they did sign up for it actually

Hey @fskimospy and @MrSquished

Since we're from NYC.. I'm wondering if you're noticing streets and shops and restaurants and community centers being a lot less crowded from about 4 months ago. Is it just me or you're noticing the same?

I've also heard some neighbors complain about people leaving cars parked for months collecting dust on the street sides recently which make it harder for them to find parking.

One made an offhand comment to me that the migrants left themselves because they didn't want to be shipped to El Salvador.

Businesses are complaining about less customers.. even my favorite pizza shop said business dropped by about 40%

Just curious if you're seeing the same thing or it's isolated in my area..

I haven’t talked to people about it but I also rarely go to touristy areas.

I think NYC is going to be in for a bad time though as I imagine international tourism is going to take a huge hit and we do a lot of that.

With Republicans stating that non-citizens have no rights, a foreign national would be insane to visit the U.S. It puts us in the company of North Korea.

I don't live in New York City, just next door to it and I'm in there often. Although not as much the last couple months as I meant an amazing woman who lives in New Jersey.

But I have seen similar observations from people on the New York City subreddits I frequent daily.

I think it's a combination of things. All this economic uncertainty and consumer confidence is being measured at very low levels, which means people are not spending as much money out. And as was mentioned by @fskimospy , tourists are going to be coming less and less. The scaring away the tourist bit is going to really affect quite a few parts of the country very negatively. we're talking tens and tens of billions of dollars will be lost in revenue that support lots of industries obviously especially focusing the hospitality area. Lots of industries obviously especially folks in the hospitality area. It's going to cost a lot of people their livelihoods

Number of Americans financing their groceries going up quite a bit already.

“In a survey conducted April 2-3 of 2,000 U.S. consumers ages 18 to 79, around half reported having used buy now, pay later services. Of those consumers, 25% of respondents said they were using BNPL loans to buy groceries, up from 14% in 2024 and 21% in 2023, the firm said.”

“Meanwhile, 41% of respondents said they made a late payment on a BNPL loan in the past year, up from 34% in the year prior, the survey found.”

This is just sad.

I think you missed my point; if the requirement to stay here is an ability to think critically and know right from wrong, then you're leaving too, with the rest of your genocidal kin.
